Violet’s POV
“You are my Mate, Violet,” Ryan said, staring deep into my eyes. I didn’t know what to say. I was shocked at what he was saying to me.
“I am your Mate?” I asked
“Yes,” Ryan said and placed his hand on mine, causing the same pleasurable tingles I feel only by his touch to go through me. “The sparks you feel when I touch you is because of our bond. You are my Mate, my other half. As a werewolf, my mom and dad told me stories about the Mate bond and how important they were. As I had gotten older, I thought the Moon Goddess had forgotten about me because a werewolf is supposed to be able to find their Mate when they turn sixteen years old, and I am twenty–one,” Ryan said.
I just stared into his eyes, thinking about what he was saying to me. I was his Mate, the one woman he was meant to spend the rest of his life with. Thinking about what I learned from stories I read about werewolves made a smile come to my face knowing that I had someone that would love me unconditionally.
But then I thought about what Jane said to me that she was supposed to be his Luna and how he had told her he was ready to marry her.
“Jane told me you were planning on marrying her and making her your Luna. Was that true?” I asked, and he stared at me

“Yes,” was all he said. Hearing him confirm what Jane said was true made a pain go through my chest. I thought about the day I first saw him and how I overheard him having sex with Jane in his room. Then I thought about when he pulled me out of the backyard and said those hurtful words that made me fall to the ground in pain. He didn’t seem to care that I was in pain as he walked away without sparing me a glance.
I quickly removed my hand from his and looked him in the eye. The realization of what he did that night came to me, and it hurt like hell.
“You rejected me at your parent’s anniversary party,” I said. I could feel tears falling from my eyes as I looked into his and could see the guilt in his eyes as he just stared at me without speaking.
“Violet, I am so sorry. I was dumb. I let Jane get me upset when she made up lies about you. She told me Sofia was your daughter and that you were flirting with Tyson, and I let my anger get the best of me. That is why I quickly took back my rejection before you and Emily left. I am so sorry; please forgive me,” Ryans said. I couldn’t believe the excuses he was giving to me for why he rejected me. I was becoming angry.
“How dare you give those weak excuses for why you rejected me? You rejected me because Jane, the girl you were fucking and planning on making your Mate and Luna, told you I had a child and was flirting with someone? That is the weakest excuse in the world,” I said

have mattered if she was my daughter. You know what? Sof is basically my daughter. She might be my little sister, but I am the only person she has, and I have cared for her since she was born. She will always come first,” I said.
“I know that, baby. I am sorry for how I was to you in the beginning, and I regret everything I said and did to you. I am sorry I hurt you, and I promise to prove that to you for the rest of our lives. If you can forgive and accept me,” Ryan said. I thought about what he was saying and felt as though he was telling me the truth, but Sof had to come first. The only thing he had proved to me was that he didn’t want anything to do with a child that wasn’t his. Sof and I had just escaped being abused by a man that didn’t want us, and he was our father. I made a promise to myself and Sofia that I would never let another man mistreat either one of us again.
“I don’t know if I can forgive you. I mean, you rejected me because you thought I had a child. I can’t let anyone mistreat my sister,” I replied truthfully.
“I would never mistreat Sofia. I know I messed up, but I promise I would always treat Sof as if she was my own, just like you do. I know how much she means to you, and to be honest, she is growing on me too,” Ryan said, and I just stared at him, not knowing if I could trust him or not. He had taken her to the park to get ice cream, but he hadn’t spent much time with her, so I wasn’t sure if he was sincere.
“At least give me a chance to prove that I will be the perfect Mate to you and father figure to Sofia. You don’t have to make a decision now, but please don’t reject me,” Ryan s d.l thought about it and figured it would be okay to give him a chance to prove himself. I couldn’t see myself rejecting him

anyway. Just thinking about rejecting him brought a pain to my chest.
“Fine. I will give you one chance but only one. I have Sofia to think about, and she comes first,” I said
“I know she does, and thank you,” Ryan said
“And we are just friends,” I added.

“And one more thing. If you want me to give you a chance,
you can’t mess around with other girls. Jane told me that you used to cheat on her, and even though we are starting as friends, you are still my Mate meaning you shouldn’t be with anyone else. Jane might have been the type to share, but I am not,” I said and looked into his eyes. He was already staring into mine.
“I would never sleep with anyone else but you. You are my Mate and the only woman I want.”
