Sebastian furrowed his brow at the chatter.
His piercing gaze swept the crowd, not spotting Madelyn.
Instead, he noticed Jillian standing there, hands clasped in prayer.
“Please, please, keep Madelyn safe!” she murmured anxiously.
Surrounding her were a few individuals tasked with guarding her.

“I am not leaving!” Hearing his words, Jillian refused immediately. “I’ll wait here for Madelyn to come back. Please, she agreed to the race because of me.”

He turned sharply to Wesley. “You should have some friends here, right?”
Wesley, well–connected as always, had plenty of friends nearby.
“Yes!” Wesley nodded vigorously.
“Gather a few of them. We are heading un the mountain” Sebastian commanded
