With her face a picture of grievance, Madelyn pleaded, “Grandma, would you please trust me?”
Even though Agnes was a tad angry and felt that she was indeed somewhat too wild, she ultimately couldn’t bring herself to blame her since she looked weak and pitiful.
Finally, she let go of her anger and comforted her, saying, “Okay, acknowledging your mistakes is all that matters. Don’t dwell on this matter anymore. The most important thing is to take good care of yourself. Got it?”
Madelyn nodded emphatically. “Thank you, Grandma.”
“Alright, we’ll be on our way, then. Here’s the medicinal broth Marsha and I brought. Have the help heat some for you when you’re feeling better. It’ll be nourishing,” Agnes urged solemnly.
Beatrice had no choice but to place the medicinal broth on the table reluctantly before they all departed.
However, Marsha couldn’t swallow her anger. After leaving the hospital, she couldn’t help but complain, “Mom, how could you forgive that girl so easily? With her so wild, who knows what she might do in the future to tarnish our family’s reputation?”
Hearing that, Agnes sighed. Nonetheless, she intentionally defended Madelyn, chiding, “Let it go. You’re a mother, so don’t be too petty. Besides, hadn’t she said it was all a misunderstanding? They merely got lost.” You should show some forgiveness.”
“Mom, you’re being unfair. When have I been unforgiving? Clearly, she was the one who went too far,” Marsha grumbled.
Agnes knew that debating the matter would yield no conclusion and decided to ignore her.
Despite her resentment, Marsha had no choice but to swallow her
anger.
At that moment, Beatrice was equally livid, feeling utterly indignant on behalf of her cousin. She firmly believed that a woman like Madelyn was just unworthy of Sebastian.
In the end, the nurse was no match for Madelyn’s stubbornness. After the latter had finished her IV drip, she processed her discharge papers.
After having been discharged from the hospital, Madelyn immediately returned home.
Initially, she intended to seek out Sebastian to explain things, only to hear from Lydia that he hadn’t returned yet. She couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed.
Since he hasn’t come back, I’ll just wait for him to return.
And so, after taking a bath, she sat on the couch obediently, commencing a long wait.
That night, Sebastian didn’t return home even when it was very late.
He knew that Madelyn had been discharged from the hospital and returned home. Lydia even told him that she was waiting for him on the couch.

Sebastian, however, didn’t pay him any mind, raising his hand and downing another glass of strong liquor.
“How’s the investigation on last night’s incident?” Sebastian asked coldly after finishing his glass of liquor.
His voice was so chillingly aloof that anyone who heard would worry on his behalf.
Wesley inexorably sighed. Why must he torture himself like this? But surprisingly, he spoke in favor of Madelyn for once. “I’ve investigated everything. Madelyn and Christopher were indeed seen there together, but they seemingly arrived separately. And it was by chance, not prearranged.”
When Sebastian heard that, an imperceptible frown creased his brows, but they relaxed again in the next second.
“Moreover, according to those at the scene, Christopher rarely visited the place. It was also Madelyn’s first time there. She went straight to the person in charge of the race course as soon as she arrived and didn’t seem to have gone there for a clandestine meeting. Instead, it appeared that someone deliberately used Jillian to lure her there. As for Jillian’s kidnapping, I’ve also gotten to the bottom of things. It was just a gang of gangsters. Sebastian listened to it all, his gaze inevitably darkening. He asked coldly, “Have you looked into the man called Andy?”
Wesley nodded in affirmation. “Of course, I have. He claimed that a person dressed in black handed him a cheque, instructing him to arrange for men to ram Madelyn off the cliff before inexplicably vanishing. It’s all very suspicious.”
“A person in black?” Sebastian’s attention was inexorably drawn to that fact.
“Yes. But unfortunately, the mountain was too crowded last night. There are also no surveillance cameras in such a place. The person in black was completely covered up, making it impossible for anyone to recognize. Therefore, investigating the person is truly quite tricky. I can’t find any leads.” Wesley shrugged, seemingly somewhat helpless.
“How could this be?” At that answer, Sebastian’s brows furrowed, making his dissatisfaction clear.

“No problem,” Wesley agreed without hesitation.
“Also…” Just then, Sebastian suddenly added lowly, “Look into Josiah… Find out where that guy came from exactly and let me know.”
Wesley was initially indifferent, but when he heard that, he couldn’t help but sigh heavily again. “Sebastian, judging from your current state, you’re genuinely beyond cure. Even God himself wouldn’t be able to save you. But I just don’t get it. What’s so good about that wild girl? Although she’s beautiful, she’s not at all feminine and even has such a fiery temper. I really don’t understand what you like about her.”
Hearing that, Sebastian kept his head down and remained silent.
