Shifting her gaze to Nathan, Madelyn cursed under her breath, “Just you wait, brat. I’m going to teach you a lesson today.”
Then, she rolled up her sleeves right away. Fisting a hand, she stepped forward and beat him up.
Her movements were so swift and fierce, they left one utterly astounded.
In no time at all, Nathan’s arm was roughly twisted behind his back, and he wailed in pain, “Ouch, it hurts! Let go of me!”
“Let go of you? Not a chance.” With that said, Madelyn exerted force while nudging his thigh with her knee, snapping, “Stand properly!”
At that point, Nathan didn’t dare to make a move recklessly. Whenever he did, it felt as if his bones were about to be dislocated.
Left with no choice, he cried out, “Mom, please help me!”
Although Fiona was disappointed in him, he was ultimately her only son. She immediately wanted to step in and try to mediate things.
However, Jillian stopped her. “Mom, it’s about time he’s disciplined. Do you want to see him drifting aimlessly through life?”
Hearing that, Fiona contemplated for a moment before deciding to let nature take its course.
Subsequently, Madelyn scolded unceremoniously, “You think you’re all grown up now, huh, brat? Your mother worked herself to the bone to raise you, hoping you’d amount to something. But how did you repay her? You’re nothing but a good–for–nothing!”
“Who are you calling a good–for–nothing?” Nathan blew up in embarrassment.
Madelyn snorted coldly. “You’re denying it? Then, don’t come back after making a mess out there. You’re a grown man who’s whole in body and mind, but instead of earning your own living, you only know how to ask your mother and sister for money. You’re also always causing trouble for them. Calling you a good–for- nothing is already an overstatement!”
“How dare you! I dare you to repeat that!” Nathan was hopping mad.
“Do you have any idea that the creditors you owed money to out there the last time nearly dragged your sister away to pay off your debts when they came knocking on your house door? Do you know what would have happened to her if they had taken her? She might have ended up working in some seedy place, selling herself, or even worse, living a life worse than death. Her life would have been ruined! With your father in jail, you should be protecting the women of your family as the only man in the house. Do you get th t all?” Madelyn grew increasingly enraged as she spoke, wishing he could comprehend those realities.
Alas, Nathan still wailed in pain, “Let me go! It hurts! Let go of me!”
Madelyn was utterly disappointed. Her expression hardened, and not only did she refuse to let him go but exerted even more force, dislocating his hand outright.

Soon, Madelyn grew tired and finally let go of Nathan’s hand, She snarled, “Get lost! If you continue to be unrepentant, I’ll beat you up every time I see you”
Immediately, Nathan clutched his arm and ran off. All the while, he cursed under his breath. From the looks of it, he didn’t seem to show the slightest hint of remorse.
Madelyn shook her head helplessly. It seems that saving him wouldn’t be that easy.
Tristan and Josiah initially intended to step in and help, but to their surprise, Madelyn effortlessly subdued Nathan in just a few moves. On top of that, she seemingly lectured him. They were duly impressed and didn’t say anything further.
Unfortunately, Jillian and Fiona were visibly distressed by the incident and no longer had any appetite.
Madelyn was a touch worried. Even though Nathan had been driven away this time, she reckoned that he would undoubtedly return.
Nonetheless, she could only comfort them, saying, “Alright, don’t overthink it. His personality needs to be changed gradually. Don’t rush it.”
Upon hearing that, Jillian nodded.
Later, Madelyn left. Naturally, Josiah and Tristan also took their leave with her.
After going downstairs, Madelyn suddenly turned around and asked, “Could the two of you possibly do me a favor?”
Josiah raised an eyebrow. “What are you planning to do?”
Madelyn started, “I know you’ve got your ways and can track down that kid earlier. Once you find him, keep an eye on him for me. Don’t let him stir up any trouble.”
Hearing that, Josiah gave a slight nod.
However, he suddenly questioned in puzzlement, “Hey, why do you always have to meddle in other people’s affairs, Madelyn?”
“I don’t meddle in just anyone’s affairs, okay? Jillian was the first, and you were the second. I couldn’t care less about others.” Madelyn pursed her lips dismissively.
Upon hearing that, Josiah abruptly bristled. “Why did you meddle in my affairs? Did I ask you to do so?”
Unexpectedly, Madelyn laughed blithely, her face lighting up with a smile. “I just want to do so. What can you do about it?”
“Argh!” Josiah was absolutely livid, but after a long while, he still couldn’t utter a single word.

Josiah found it quite perplexing. He was undeniably irritated by Madelyn’s interference yet found himself unable to voice his annoyance. Strangely enough, there was even a faint sense of excitement within him. What on earth is going on with me?
It was the first time Tristan had seen Josiah in such a state, and he immediately clicked his tongue even louder.
Then, they arrived at the entrance of the residential area. Madelyn parted ways with them. “I’m heading home now. You guys should head back carly, too.”
After saying that, she planned to hail a taxi by the roadside.
Josiah stared at her intently before suddenly suggesting, “It’s not safe for you to go back alone. I have a car. How about I give you a ride?”
Madelyn nodded and smiled. “That works.”
Following that, Josiah drove her home with Tristan tagging along. The trio continued chatting and laughing together.
However, halfway through the drive, Josiah inadvertently glanced at the rearview mirror and suddenly noticed something amiss.
“Someone’s tailing us!” After saying that, Josiah swiftly shifted gears and stepped harder on the accelerator, driving at breakneck speed.
Madelyn glanced back over her shoulder and saw that the car behind was indeed rapidly in pursuit.
Her expression inexorably stiffened, and she asked, “Josiah, have you made yourself some enemy, and they’re now after you?”
Josiah rolled his eyes speechlessly. “Who knows? Maybe you’re the target. After all, nothing good ever happens when I’m with you.”
With that said, Josiah didn’t hesitate but floored the accelerator. The car shot off like a bullet.
Throughout the drive, they safely dodged oncoming vehicles and made several sharp turns, overtaking numerous fellow drivers. It was undeniably a heart–stopping experience.
But while Josiah’s driving skills were impeccable, the person in pursuit at the back wasn’t to be underestimated either.
For some reason, the car at the back suddenly accelerated wildly in the pitch–black tunnel.
By the time they emerged from the tunnel, it swiftly raced forward and intercepted Josiah’s car.
