After carefully assisting Sebastian up the stairs, Madelyn then headed for the bathroom to take a shower.
Sitting on the couch outside, Sebastian pulled out his phone and dialed his assistant, Malcolm.
“Mrs. Lockhart might visit the black market soon. Assign some people to shadow her. Ensure she doesn’t get into any trouble. Report back to me immediately if anything comes up.” Sebastian’s voice was chilling enough to send shivers down one’s spine.
“Yes, sir.” Malcolm respectfully accepted the command,
Upon hanging up, Malcolm immediately made another phone call, conveying Sebastian’s instructions to Harriet. He asked her to send her subordinates to follow Madelyn, ensuring the latter’s safety.
“What? You want my people to protect Madelyn?” Harriet was simply astounded.
“Yes. Please act immediately,” With that, Malcolm abruptly ended the call.
At that moment, Harriet wanted to get rid of Madelyn more than anything.
Here subordinates were composed entirely of elite fighters who had undergone rigorous, professional training!
She could not believe Sebastian had instructed her subordinates to protect a mere Madelyn.
Harriet couldn’t help but curse under her breath. Whats wrong with that woman? Why would she leave the house for no good reason? She’s such a handful. That’s so annoying!
Although she was annoyed, Harriet didn’t dare to defy Sebastian’s command.
Thus, even though she was displeased, Harriet had no choice but to comply and send out her subordinates to lend a hand.
However, only two of her subordinates were assigned.
Moreover, the two selected ones were the ones that Harriet usually had the least regard for, believing them to be the most useless out of all her elite fighters.
In the end, Harriet specially instructed, “Dracon and Tigra, listen carefully. You know Mrs. Lockhart’s personality. She always likes to stand in the spotlight. So, you two must not steal her limelight. Assess the situation carefully and only intervene when absolutely necessary. Do you understand?”

In truth, they were well aware that Harriet had always arbored feelings for Sebastian. Naturally, she had not intended for them to take protecting Madelyn seriusly.
Sending them was merely a formality, nothing more.
Dracon and the Tigra exchanged knowing glances, and neither of them took the task of protecting Madelyn to heart.
The next day. Madelyn went to class.
Throughout the entire class, Josiah fixed his gaze on Madelyn. He appeared to be extremely anxious.
After the class, Madelyn was whispering secrets to Jillian when Josiah shamelessly interrupted, “Hey, hey, hey, what secrets are you sharing? I want to hear, too.”
Madelyn fell silent and rolled her eyes before heading the restroom. Josiah casually followed behind her, feigning indifference, “What a coincidence, I was also thinking of going to the restroom.”
During lunch hour, he stuck even closer to Madelyn, almost as if he couldn’t bear to be a step away from her. It was as if he was worried that she would run off the moment he blinked.
With great enthusiasm, he offered, “Madelyn, what would you like to eat? My treat today.”
When it was time to eat, Josiah intentionally seated himself close to Madelyn. Without uttering a word, he transferred all the meat from his bowl to hers.
With a tone of concern, he said, “You’re too thin, you should eat more meat.”
After observing their interactions for some time, Jillian concluded that Josiah’s behavior was completely out of the ordinary.
Leaning closer to Tristan beside her, she began to speculate.
“What’s up with Mr. Josiah today?” she asked. “He seems off. He’s being more clingy than a band–aid, wouldn’t you say?”
Upon hearing this, Tristan covered his mouth and chuckled softly. “Can you smell the unmistakable stench of love in the air?”
“Huh?” Jillian asked, puzzled.
Suddenly, realization dawned on her. “Oh my god!” she exclaimed. “You’re not suggesting they have that kind of relationship, are you?”
Tristan merely smiled, neither confirming nor denying it.
Jillian felt a surge of shock. Without a word, she immediately gripped Madelyn and pulled her aside. She whispered, “Madelyn, you and Josiah wouldn’t happen to be in that kind of relationship, would you?”
“What kind of relationship?” Madelyn asked, puzzled.
Jillian wondered if there were any hints of romance, but she did not dare to say it aloud. All she could do was blush and mutter. “You know. The kind of relationship between a guy and a girl.7

Madelyn let out a sigh of relief before tapping Jillian of the head in a playful manner. “Why, you. Instead of worrying about other people’s business, you should cus on finding yourself a partner, Madelyn
teased.
“1- 1 still have plenty of time. I want to focus on my studies.” A blush swiftly spread across Jillian’s fair face. With that, Madelyn stopped the banter and headed straight for Josiah
With a smile, she confronted him. “Hey, you’ve already been following me around the entire day today”
“Have I? You must be imagining things. Josiah denied with his head held high.
Madelyn found Josiah’s demeanor amusing, yet it warmed her heart to know that he cared.
Yet, with unwavering resolve, she declared, “You don’t need to follow me anymore. I’ve made up my mind. I will most definitely go to the black market.”
As she spoke, Madelyn’s face held an unshakeable determination.
Since the villain was intent on harming her father, Madelyn was determined to expose him!
“Alright then…” Upon hearing this, Josiah couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless.
He genuinely didn’t want Madelyn to take risks by going to such places, whick was why he had been keeping a constant eye on her. He was afraid that she might suddenly decide to go there alone.
To his dismay, it seemed like there was no stopping her anymore.
That evening, after the rehearsal had concluded, Madelyn turned to her friends.
“Well, I’ll be on my way now. I’ve still got a few things to handle, so I won’t be joining you guys,” Madelyn said, waving goodbye.
“Alright, take care,” Jillian replied.
With that, Madelyn left on her own.
As he watched her determined, slender figure walking further away from them in the darkness, Josiah suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of unease. He hurried after her.
Let me walk you home.” Josiah offered earnestly as he caught up with her.
Upon hearing this, Madelyn couldn’t help but tease, “What on earth are you up to. Josiah? You’re not trying to make a move on me, are you? Even my boyfriend isn’t this devoted to me.”
Upon hearing these words, Josiah rolled his eyes so hard that they almost got stuck behind his head. “Pub- lease. Where on earth did you get such delusional confidence?”
