As soon as he finished speaking, one of his subordinates stepped forward, brandishing a huge machete, The blade bore terrifying bloodstains that hadn’t dried up yet.
The onlookers gasped in fright.
Nathan was absolutely terrified. He pleaded hysterically, “Don’t! Don’t hurt me! I beg you! I have money! My sister has money! Just give me two minutes! I’ll have my sister figure something out!”
He hurriedly took out his cell phone, his hands shaking as he dialed Jillian’s number.
Madelyn let out a disappointed sigh.
Even though she had anticipated this, seeing Nathan’s display of cowardice firsthand still upset her.
Tristan seethed with rage. “That brat! Things have been hard enough for Jillian as it is! Does he even have a heart? I swear, I’ll beat him to a pulp!”
Tristan could no longer contain his anger, ready to rush out and beat Nathan up.
Immediately, Josiah pulled him back. “Tristan, calm down. Let’s see how it goes. We can always beat him up later if necessary.”

As soon as Jillian received a call from Nathan, she hurried over frantically.

Even thought she often found her younger brother exasperating and blamed him for being a good–for- nothing, she was still concerned for his safety.
Yet, Nathan showed no signs of remorse and instead pleaded, “Jillian, I’m in debt! You need to help me find forty million! If I don’t pay up, they’re going to chop off my hand!”

In a state of anxiety, Nathan blurted out, “Are you stupid? Aren’t your friends all wealthy? Why don’t you borrow from them?”
His words struck Jillian like a bolt of lightning.
At her wit’s end with her useless brother, she strode forward and slapped him hard across the face, frustrated and heartbroken. “Nathan Lynch, when on earth are you going to grow up?”

The onlookers frowned in distress, pained as they watched the siblings‘ interaction.
Septimus, too, was annoyed. Tired of their antics, he asked unceremoniously, “Are you two done? I’m not here to watch your family drama. If you’re done acting, cough up the forty million. If you don’t have the money, then leave your hands behind!”
As his words fell, one of his underlings immediately stepped forward, ruthlessly plunging the knife into Nathan’s palm.
“Ah! Ouch! It hurts!” Nathan’s wails echoed.
He clutched his hand which was bleeding profusely, his face contorted in agony as he writhed on the ground, consumed by extreme pain.
Everyone was taken aback.
Madelyn was shocked, too. I thought Mr. Septimus promised that he wouldn’t harm Nathan. Why did he do that?
“Tristan grew anxious. “They wouldn’t harm Jillian too, would they? No, I have to do something.”
He was about to dash out when Madelyn grabbed him. “Don’t worry. They won’t harm Jillian.”
In fact, Madelyn had noticed that the man didn’t intend to harm Nathan. Perhaps he was just teaching him
a lesson.

Seeing Nathan remaining silent, Madelyn assumed he was fine with that. Her heart instantly sank.
If he has any shred of conscience left, there will at least be a chance for redemption. But if he doesn’t even have that, then he’s incorrigible. Might as well have his hands severed and let him fend for himself.
Tristan’s fury intensified. He kept ranting. “That little brat! I’m definitely going to tear him apart! Does this jerk even have a shred of humanity left in him?”
Septimus couldn’t help furrowing his brows upon seeing Nathan’s stunned expression and lack of response.
