Just as he was about to pack up his laptop, he noticed that Madelyn had already fallen asleep with her head resting on his shoulder.
“Madelyn.” Sebastian softly called out but to no avail.
It seems she has drifted off to sleep. Sebastian thought to himself. With this in mind, he consciously moved with utmost care, trying his best not to disturb the girl resting on his shoulder.
After packing up, Sebastian finally picked up Madelyn, cradling her in his arms in a comfortable position.

The following day was still a sunny day.
In the spacious Ingram Manor, Rachel had just finished grooming and dressing herself. She then instr the driver to ready the car as she prepared to step out.
Half an hour later, at the prison, after stepping inside, Rachel informed the prison officer that she was there for a visit, requesting to see Janessa.
The prison staff promptly went to arrange it.
At that moment, Janessa was clad in prison garb, huddled in a corner of the jail cell. Her hair was disheveled and hung loose, her head bowed. She remained silent, appearing much like a lunatic.
The prison officer glanced at her but remained unfazed. After all, the prison was teeming with lunatics, and Janessa had only been here for a few days. Considering the circumstances, she was doing relatively well.
Following that, the prison officer promptly unlocked the cell door and said, “Janessa, your aunt is here to see you.”
Aunt? Upon hearing that, Janessa was initially stupefied for a moment.

Soon after, she gained clarity, and her entire being suddenly perked up. Her eyes sparkled, radiating an almost frenzied light. “Aunt Rachel has come to rescue me. Take me to her, quickly!”
“You’re truly a lunatic.” The prison officer looked at her frenzied state and shook his head in a mix of ruthlessness and helplessness. “Follow me.”
Immediately, Janessa obediently followed him out. Subsequently, Janessa was led to the area designated for meeting family members..
“You can only chat for three minutes, no extensions.” After the prison officer brought Janessa over, he gave a chilly instruction before taking his leave.
At that moment, Janessa and Rachel were staring intently at each other, their nerves stretched taut with anxiety. They wished they could immediately pass through the glass separating them and hold each other in a tight, sobbing embrace.

“I–I should’ve guessed it was her all along. I should’ve known!” Janessa’s eyes welled up with tears of anger. She felt like she was on the brink of insanity.
During that period, when she found herself repeatedly targeted, she had suspected more than once that Madelyn was the one pulling strings behind the scenes. However, no matter how much she investigated, she couldn’t find any evidence. Therefore, Janessa let her guard down.
Unexpectedly, in the end, her cleverness had backfired. The person who harmed her turned out to be Madelyn, just as expected.

With a reluctant sigh, Rachel said, “That woman is truly distasteful. She’s always playing the innocent while pulling the strings behind the scenes. Despite her involvement in everything, she still puts on an act as if she’s unrelated to anything. Moreover, she hides it so well. How despicable!”
Janessa was absolutely livid. “That wretched woman. I hate her! Unfortunately, I can’t confront her directly.”
As she spoke, a look of near terror suddenly crossed Janessa’s face. “Aunt Rachel, do I really have to spend five years in prison? No, I can’t do it. Aunt Rachel, I’m certain I would die in there. Aunt Rachel, do you have any idea how dark and terrifying it is in here? I can’t eat or sleep well. I have to be quiet at night. Even when a mouse scurries past me, I dare not make a sound. Even the slightest disobedience would result in a scolding or beating. Aunt Rachel, I’m truly experiencing a living hell.”
The mere thought of enduring this seemingly endless lifestyle for the next five years weighed heavily on Janessa. It was as if a suffocating pressure was rising in her chest, making it almost impossible for her to breathe.
Seeing the agony that Janessa was going through, Rachel couldn’t help but feel sympathetic. After all, what good could possibly come from a place like prison?

If you escape, it’s considered breaking out of jail, and that comes with h penalties. So, if you don’t want to be behind bars, this is the only way out. Once we’re out, I’ll give you a whole new identity. Janessa Sherritt‘ needs to disappear completely from this world. Only by making everyone believe you’re dead can you truly be safe. Do you understand?”
