Chapter 21
Without a moment’s hesitation, Kristina burst through the door, moving as fast as she could.
“Hurry, call for backup,” one of the guys yelled.
Kristina realized that Stanley must have positioned people outside to trap her. She quickly changed course and darted into another stairwell.
Just as she entered, several men in black uniforms emerged from nearby rooms, all there to capture her. It was clear Stanley wasn’t off the hook easily this time, so she picked up her pace even more.

After racing down two flights of stairs, Kristina exited into the hallway. Her pursuers were closing in fast, and if this chase continued, she wouldn’t stay free for long
Looking around cautiously, she tried to push open the doors to private rooms. After attempting a couple, she finally succeeded with one. Just as she was closing the door, a man in a uniform burst from the stairwell.
Kristina pressed her back against the door, trying to catch her breath. Suddenly, a figure appeared before her, and a pair of hands grasped her neck “Who are you!”
In front of her stood an incredibly handsome man with striking eyes. Sweat slicked his hair against his forehead, giving him a slightly disheveled, yet dangerous look..
Kristina’s heart dropped as she recognized him–it was Yanis Lewis, the young heir to a global bank that was independent of nationality or political influence. Despite his youth, he was already a billionaire.
In her past life, she had gone to his funeral. His death had sent shockwaves around the world, making headlines for days, and she had really felt for him during that time.
But before Kristina couldn’t dwell on it for long, the smell of blood hit her. She lowered her gaze and noticed Yanis clothes were drenched, crimson droplets dripping from his limp hand–he was badly hurt.
When Kristina recalled that she had married Stanley just before attending Yanis funeral in her past life, her eyes widened. She thought, “Could today be the day Yanis dies? If that’s true, doesn’t that mean my life is in danger tou?”
“Hey, you-” she began, but his grip around her neck tightened
Yanis’s face was as pale as a ghost. It seemed he noticed something in her expression, and his e me? Well, sorry, but now that you know my secret, I have to kill you.”

What secret‘ Great, just got out of one mess and now I’m in another. Kristina winced, a cold sweat breaking out from the pain. “I don’t know who you are. but stay calm. Your wound looks serious–let me help stop the bleeding”
“Oh, really!” Yanis didn’t loosen his grip, instead, he studied Kristina with a penetrating gaze.
Just then, a flurry of footsteps stormed toward the door. “Hold up—I saw that woman head this way. Where’d she go?”
Then the commotion intensified as several doors were kicked open with force. “Damn it! There’s no way she just disappeared. Search every corners”
The footsteps drew closer, halting right outside Kristina’s door. Heart racing, Kristina quickly fished her phone out of her pocket.
Yanis’s demeanor shifted, his eyes narrowing. He was about to reach for her when she raised her hand to halt him. She lifted her head slightly, her bright eyes catching the dim light of the corridor.
Yanis paused momentarily. At that signal, Kristina quickly lowered her head and, under Yanis’s watchful gaze, typed in a web address and opened a
video.
“Shh. Kristina whispered, gesturing for Yanis to be quiet as she turned up the volume on her phone.
The intimate sounds of a man and wornan filled the air, causing Yands to blink in shock. His gaze shifted to the phone screen, appalled at the explicit scene playing out before them.
His hrows furrowed as he flicked a glance back at Kristina’s face. His expression held suspicion and coldness, but alongside that was disbelief. It was remarkable that she could source such a video so quickly in a moment of crisis.
However, the doorknob kept turning, and the guys outside were still trying to get in. Kristina and Yanis tensed simultaneously.
