I took a deep breath and opened the
message.
“Serena is pregnant, we’re coming home.”
“She’s not feeling well, she needs to rest. Tell
the housekeeper to prepare the master
bedroom for her.”
“Serena can’t eat much, make sure the
kitchen prepares light meals.”
“She’s craving sweets lately, she really likes
your macarons.”
“Decorate the room in a minimalist style, she
likes sunlight, choose light–filtering curtains.”
“Tidy up the walk–in closet too, she likes sky
blue, light green, those refreshing colors.”
“Oh, and the baby will be registered under my
name, you take care of the paperwork.”
Message after message, filled with concern
for her.
I deleted them and blocked him.
Then I turned away.
く
And never looked back.
Serena didn’t want to return to the States so
quickly. She wanted to stay abroad a while
longer, and Richard was worried that
paparazzi would catch her current state,
impacting her reputation.
So they stayed overseas for a bit longer.
Anyway, he’d already left everything at home
to me.
“Mr. Montgomery is quite the player,
vacationing abroad with his mistress, and
letting the legal wife clean up the mess back
home,” someone said at a business gathering.
“Doesn’t Mrs. Montgomery get mad?”
Someone else immediately chimed in:
“You don’t understand, Mr. Zhang?”
“Mrs. Montgomery is famously devoted to Mr.
Montgomery.”
“Even if he kept a mistress, she’d probably
even willingly divorce him and make way for
L
the newcomer.”
“Mr. Montgomery, am I right?”
Richard smirked.
It wasn’t entirely wrong.
Wendy was gentle and obedient.
Her eyes and heart were only on him, and she
was a great help to his career.
When I told her I was giving Serena the Best
Actress award, she didn’t object at all.
Instead, she asked when I would be back.
She couldn’t bear not seeing me even for a
day.
Just then, his secretary entered, and Richard
beckoned her over, his lips curling into a
smirk:
“How is Wendy doing back home? Did she do
as I said?”
The secretary bowed, glanced at those
present, hesitated.
“It’s fine, they’re all old friends, speak freely.”
く
The secretary lowered her head, replying,
“The housekeeper called, saying… Mrs.
Montgomery moved out.”
“Moved out?”
“Yes… Mrs. Montgomery packed her bags…
and left…”
Richard abruptly stood up.
Serena, who had been silent, suddenly
chuckled softly,
“It seems Mrs. Montgomery has a rebellious
side.”
“But she’s Mr. Montgomery’s legally married
wife, would she really leave?”
Before she finished, tears welled up in her
eyes: “It’s all my fault for being so selfish…”
“I must have upset Mrs. Montgomery…”
“Mr. Montgomery, let’s go back.”
“What if she gets angry and divorces you!”
Richard sneered.
Divorce? And then go back to her vicious
く
father’s house?
>
“Kevin,” he called to his secretary,
“reschedule my flight to two weeks later.”
He wanted to see.
Where could she go, and how long could she
last?
If she divorced him, she could only go back to
her family home. Her mother had passed
away, and she’d grown up with her father and
stepmother. Her family home, was really her
stepmother’s home. When she got married,
her stepmother had already swallowed up half
of her mother’s inheritance.
She would never return to that home.
I didn’t go home, I went to see my aunt.
“You’re really divorcing Richard?”
I don’t know why, but I didn’t cry when
Richard signed the divorce papers without
hesitation. I didn’t cry when I left the mansion
alone with my luggage. But now, at my aunt’s
<
words of concern, tears welled up
uncontrollably.
“Don’t cry, don’t cry, it’s for the best.”
My aunt hugged me.
“Everyone in the circle knows about that
bastard’s affairs!”
I quietly leaned on my aunt’s shoulder, gently
wiping away my tears.
“What are you planning to do after the
divorce?”
I rarely confided in my aunt, neither about the
bullying from my stepmother when I was
young, nor the unhappiness after marrying
Richard. My aunt, a renowned film producer,
was already extremely busy. I really didn’t
want to cause her any more worry. But this
time, I poured out all my troubles.
Finally, I said apologetically,
“Aunt, please don’t tell anyone about my
divorce yet.”
