It was the first New Year after my mother’s
death. I put on a new dress and went to see
my aunt. My aunt asked how I was doing at
home. I didn’t dare tell the truth. At that time,
I understood that my father had married my
stepmother and taken over my mother’s
inheritance. Letting my aunt know this would
only cause her trouble. But on my way back,
walking down the long street, remembering
the happy times I had spent with my mother,
tears involuntarily flowed down my face.
“Where did this porcelain doll come from?
<
Why are you crying?”
Jason appeared then.
“Your skin is as white as porcelain, but your
tears are like broken pearls.”
“Don’t cry, tell me who bullied you?”
“Here, have some candy, sweet things will
make you feel better.”
I took the strawberry lollipop he offered,
wanting to thank him for keeping me
company that difficult afternoon. But the
lollipop was discovered by my sister. We were
both in the same school, and Jason was a big
star; my sister had had a crush on him for a
long time. She called some of her friends,
cornered me in the bathroom, ripped my
school uniform, and threw water on me. After
that, I avoided him and we never had any
contact again.
After the amusement park,
Jason drove me home.
He was unusually silent on the way, as if he
had a lot on his mind.
He hurried away downstairs.
I was still wondering what was wrong with
Jason.
Lost in thought, I didn’t notice that the
apartment building was unusually quiet
tonight.
When I opened the door, a sneer came from
behind:
“You’ve been pretty tough lately, not coming
home.”
“Got a new boyfriend?”
Richard was standing in the light.
It seemed he had been waiting for a long
time.
In just a few months, he had become so
unfamiliar to me.
I cautiously closed the door.
Turned around.
<
“What are you doing at my house?”
Richard didn’t answer.
A meaningful smile curved his lips: “I’m here
to analyze.”
“You kept the gifts I gave you, only taking
your clothes.”
“Trying to get me to come and coax you
again?”
What?
“Mr. Montgomery, you just got back from
overseas, you should go home and rest.”
“Clear your head!”
I called the building security: “Someone
illegally entered my home, please take him
away!”
“Wendy!” Richard stepped forward, grabbing
my wrist, “Tell me what’s going on?!”
“There’s a limit to throwing a tantrum!”
“A respected Mrs. Montgomery, acting like
this, aren’t you afraid of being laughed at?”
く
“Who’s your Mrs. Montgomery! I…”
My head buzzed.
A terrifying thought suddenly flashed through
my mind.
I looked at Richard incredulously:
“Richard, you didn’t even open the document I
gave you that day, did you?”
Richard frowned: “What document?”
It was only then that I realized.
The divorce agreement I had painstakingly
prepared and solemnly handed to him,
Had been completely ignored.
Typical Richard.
He always had a way to trample my dignity,
To demean my sincerity, when I thought I was
at the end of my rope.
“Wendy, you just want me to worry about
you.”
“But haven’t you heard, imitation is always
inferior, you’ll only be laughed at.”
<
“The whole circle knows Jason Song doesn’t
have a girlfriend.”
Richard kept talking:
“Are you trying to use your aunt’s connections
to get Jason Song and your family together?
To use this as leverage to expand your
influence in the entertainment industry?”
“Don’t dream!”
“Who is Jason Song? Female celebrities used
to throw themselves at him; he wouldn’t even
look at them!”
“You don’t know what your sister looks like,
what her background is? You dare to…”
Slap-
I slapped him hard.
Interrupting his insults.
“Wendy!”
“I want to get involved with Jason Song, so
what?”
Richard was so angry his hand trembled as he
