Chapter 1
On Monday, I was immersed in a game when my office door was suddenly knocked.[]
“Serena Stone, Leah has notified all managers to meet in the main conference room in ten minutes.“]
The administrative assistant stood at the door, speaking urgently.[]
didn’t even look–up, my fingers moving rapidly on the keyboard.[]
“Not going, I’m busy.“[]
*
In the six months since joining the company, I had never attended any meetings.[]

Not because I didn’t need to go, but because I didn’t want to.[]
“But…” The assistant’s voice became hesitant, “Leah specifically emphasized that no one is allowed to be absent today. She said it’s Mr. Blake’s order.“[]
My fingers paused, and my game character was instantly killed by the BOSS.[]
As the screen went gray, I cursed under my breath, then slammed my laptop shut with a snap.[]
When I walked into the conference room, it was already packed with people.[]
Everyone looked surprised when they saw me, whispering
“How did Serena come?“]
“Doesn’t she never attend meetings?“]
“It must be because Leah insisted.“[]
among themselves.
“Leah has always been targeting her, today will definitely be interesting.”

I couldn’t be bothered with the gossip and chose the most corner seat, taking out my phone to continue the game I was playing earlier.
After half an hour, Pierce Blake and Leah finally walked in.
Leah was holding a stack of documents, her face showing a confident, smug smile.
“Thank you all for taking time out of your busy work to attend this meeting.”
Pierce looked around, his gaze lingering on me for less than a second before moving away.
“Today Leah has an important proposal to announce to everyone.“]]
Leah cleared her throat and kept talking about her so–called “game–changing” marketing plan.
I played on my phone while listening, and honestly, the more I heard, the more ridiculous it sounded.]
This proposal not only had an astronomical budget but was completely inconsistent with our company’s market positioning.
…so I believe we should immediately invest $800,000 to capture the high–end market within three months!“]
Leah concluded passionately.
The conference room erupted in polite applause.[]

I couldn’t stand it anymore and said without looking up: “Spending $800,000 on a bunch of useless exposure would be better spent throwing the money from the company rooftop – that would create more buzz and attract more traffic.“]]
The conference room instantly fell silent.[]
Pierce frowned.]
“What did you say?” Leah’s voice suddenly rose.
Only then did I look up.
“I said your proposal is full of holes.“]
“First, the target customer segmentation is wrong.“[]
“Second, the channel selection is wrong.”
“Third, your ROI calculation method is completely wrong.”
You might as well burn that money.”
“No at least if you burn it, the fire

Leah’s face instantly turned

She was practically shouting, and then–splash!
The entire cup of coffee was thrown in my face.
The liquid ran down my cheeks, instantly staining niy white dress brown.
The conference room fell silent, everyone holding their breath.[]
“Serena, as the CEO’s administrative assistant, I declare you fired. Get out!“]
