Chapter 10
I didn’t expose Duncan’s lie, letting him pull me up, and threw out a line without looking back: “By the way, Sterling Properties will officially take over the Manhattan project tomorrow.”
“After all, they only agreed to withdraw initially out of respect for me.“[]
As we left the restaurant, I saw through the glass curtain wall that Pierce was still standing there.]
咳
His thin figure was stretched long by the setting sun.
Duncan pinched my arm: “Feeling soft–hearted?“]
I smiled.
“Of course not.”

Blake Group eventually went bankrupt.[]
The day the news broke, New York’s business world was in an uproar.]]
The once–prominent company now had only empty office buildings and piles of debt documents to be processed.

Mr. Blake Sr.’s hair turned white overnight, and Pierce’s father desperately sought help everywhere–but no one dared to extend a hand.[]
Everyone knew that in New York, offending the Stone family meant cutting short your own future.
And I, in the name of Stone Group, acquired all of Blake’s assets at an extremely low price.]
The day after the acquisition was completed, I stood in front of Blake Group’s headquarters building, with the Stone family’s elite team behind me.]
The moment I pushed open the glass door, the familiar receptionist stood up in panic.]
Her lips trembling, she called out: “…Serena.“[]
I didn’t answer and walked straight to the elevator.
In the top–floor conference room, Blake Group’s executives had already been notified and were waiting nervously.[]
When I walked in, everyone’s eyes were on me.

There was fear, regret, and more than anything, hope.
“Good afternoon, everyone.“[]
I pulled out the chair at the head of the table and sat down, my tone calm.
“Trom today on, Blake Group officially belongs to Stone Group. As for you all…“[]
I swept across every face and said firmly: “You’re all fired.“[]
The conference room instantly erupted in chaos
The CFO suddenly stood up, his face pale with anger.]
“Serena, we’ve worked for Blake Group for over ten years. We may not have earned praise, but we’ve put in our time! You can’t do this…“}
“Can’t?” I sneered and slammed a stack of documents on the table, “These are the financial loopholes and violations you’ve been hiding for the past three years. If you don’t want to go to prison, sign and leave now.“]
Everyone’s faces turned ashen, and no one dared to protest.
Chapter 10
Walking out of the conference room, I saw Pierce at the end of the corridor.[]
He had lost a lot of weight, his eyes sunken, holding a cardboard box filled with his personal belongings.
“Serena, are you satisfied now?“]
His voice was hoarse, but his eyes remained stubborn.
I stopped: “Business is like a
battlefield, Pierce. Whether you win or lose depends on your own ability.”
He bit his lip and suddenly asked: “If I hadn’t treated you that way back then, would the outcome have been different?“]]
I glanced at him but didn’t answer.
I turned and left.
Behind me came Pierce’s suppressed crying.
I didn’t look back.
Some mistakes, once made, can never be remedied.]]
