Chapter 16
Laina Lovette’s POV
Eavesdropping was out of character for me, but I couldn’t help being kept in the loop.
It was evident that Alpha Kodak had lied about sleeping with another woman to end things with Zerva, yet she was still willing to be with him.
Her unconditional love for him made me feel guilty. If Alpha Kodak could easily leave a woman he loved because of his pup, it confirmed the rumors of his heartlessness, which frightened me
The fact that he wouldn’t care about me if I lost this pop was the main reason I wanted nothing to do with him.
It would have been simpler if things had gone my way, but he had his own
OVER ELLOS
“I would have done the same in his position, Cassius whispered, shocking me. It revealed the selfish nature of these werewolves.
“Are you serious?” I couldn’t believe he would consider such an option, but he explained.
“I don’t believe they are destined mates. Either of them could have found their true mates,” he shrugged nonchalantly,
If I didn’t know him better, I wouldn’t have believed he was my beta
That doesn’t excuse it Alpha Kodak could have left the child for me, and I would have been willing to grant him visitation rights,” I argued, but Cassius seemed to see something I didn’t.
Or perhaps the unexpected pregnancy had clouded my judgment. Cassius’s gaze met mine, a gentle smile on his face,
“Luna, you an
are so kind–hearted that you fail to see evil when it’s right in front of you. No matter how much a woman loves a man, she would never accept his infidelity”
He had a valid point. Cheating was something I could never tolerate, regardless of the circumstances, but Zeeva’s situation was unique.
But she mentioned that as long as he doesn’t do it again” I reminded Rail, in case he forgot, but his gaze carried a hint of mystery.
“I don’t know much about their relationship, but from the rumors, Zeeva isn’t a good woman. I sense she’s just pretending, and if she were to find out you are carrying Alpha Kodak’s pup, she might even harm you.
Now I felt that Cassius was going too far. I can never do something like that to my fellow she wolf, so I presume Zeeva can’t do that either. But the issue here is the fact that even if she did, she would be no match for me
At the mere sight of her, 1 easily weighed her strength mentally. I doubt she can even defeat any of my warrior she–wolves
That’s not possible, but he’s coming 1 moved from the door and quickly made myself comfortable on the sofa.
I don’t want him to know that I heard anything.”
Alpha Kodak returned, but I forgot to return to his bedroom. Seeing me here, I guessed he must have suspected that I heard a few things, and since I wasn’t good at lying. I faced him with honesty.
“What are you doing here? I thought you were upstairs,” he asked with a displeased look.
“How else could I have known how heartless you are?” I raged, unable to control my anger.
Well, we were both selfish, but what he did to Zeeva wasn’t fair, especially messing with her emotions
His gaze darkened, but I was far from being afraid of him. I would do anything to make him upset so I could have this pup alone, but surprisingly. his voice mellowed.
“Let’s talk upstairs, or we can have your beta excuse us”
“I’ll wait outside,” Cassius suggested, already on his way out. But before he reached the door, Alpha Kodak
stopped
Thim
“Nave a feeling I’m being spied on so Luna Lovette, can we go upstairs?”
I had no idea what he meant by being spied on but the sudden softness in his voice caused something to move inside of me.
Alphu Kodak closed the door securely when we reached his bedroom, even when there was no one around, not even his beta or maids. I was struck by his directness.

Chapter 16
“Look, we aren’t friends, so there isn’t much I can tell you. But as the mother of my child, 1 will do everything in my power to protect you.”
Internally, I scoffed, but I couldn’t blame him. He must have thought I was as weak as Zeeva, forgetting that I had the same authority and power as him.
“I don’t need your protection,” I stated firmly. This wasn’t the first time he had mentioned something so ridiculous, so I wanted to address it completely “We don’t have to get married.”
He shook his head, his annoyance evident. “We are not going back to that. I have alreached the reasons, and if you don’t want it, you know
the other way
way he had publicly broken up with a woman he
His voice carried a threat, and I didn’t want to make it easy for him this time, especially after the w was engaged to
“Alright. I will abort the baby,”
1 regretted the words the moment they left my mouth, feeling my wolf’s disapproval Olga was strangling me, I felt suffocated ‘I’m kidding. I just wanted to scare him away, I pleaded
“Don’t ever say something like that again. Her seriousness made me cringe, but at least we were on the same page.
“If you try to harm my pup, be prepared for war, Alpha Kodak growled, causing me to take a step back.
This was his territory, and even if I was right, I would never be able to defeat him here.
“What are
the wedding arrangements! I need to be on my way,” 1 hinted subtly, ready to leave as his eyes lit up at the mention of the wedding
I could see how much he loved his pup, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t let him have him or her.
“The invitations are going out tomorrow. Don’t you think we should introduce ourselves to our respective packs?” he suggested, making me suddenly nervous.
It dawned on me that I hadn’t addressed my unresolved issues with those old foxes in my pack yet, and the sudden invitation was a result of the Silent Claw pack’s traditions.
“I need to inform my elders before the invitations are sent out. I must leave now,” I stated, turning to go
However, he reached out and grabbed my hand, causing a surge of conflicting emotions. I quickly pulled away.
Alpha Kodak didn’t appear surprised and insisted, “You can’t leave
1 raised my eyebrows, preparing to argue, but he expressed his concern, Zeeva might still be a threat”
His words resonated with me, reminding me of Cassius’s warning about Zee’s character. “A woman scored is capable of anything” he added. shedding light on his apprehension.
Alpha Kodak feared for ray safety, which I appreciated, but I reiterated, “I can defend myself. However, sending out invitations without the elders knowledge would disrespect them
Aher pondering my words, he proposed a solution, “I’ll instruct Haul to delay the invitations for three days. Stay the night and let me introduce you to my pack tomorrow. It will create the impression that we are involved.”
I hesitated, as I had never stayed in another pack before, making it a difficult decision for me.
Truthfully.” I began to decline, but he interrupted me, taking a surprising action that momentarily stunned me.
