Chapter 26
Luna Lovette’s POV
“Lovette, don’t go to meet Zeeva alone. Wait for me.” Alpha Kodak said, sounding concerned, which made me roll my eyes.
“I’m not afraid of her, Kodak.”
“I said Kody,” he corrected me. I didn’t want to go by t I complied.
casual name when we weren’t trying to blend in with the crowd, but to get him off the line.
“Alright, Kody, I will go see Zeeva,” I said seriously, not willing to wait for him as if I were a damsel in distress.
As the Luna of this pack, there was nothing Zeeva could do to harm me here, not even in her dreams. I abruptly ended the call with AlphaʻKodak, not in the mood to hear more.
Descending the stairs, I smiled to make Zeeva feel welcome, saying, “Im not surprised you’re here.”
She smiled back at me, but I could sense her envy and jealousy, even as she spoke, “I come in peace.”
וי
“Let me hear your reason for coming” I sat in front of her, not offering anything as whatever burden she carried must have been heavy
I felt her pain, but unfortunately, there was nothing I could do to alleviate it. Alpha Kodak had made things so complicated that I couldn’t find a way around ic
“Alpha Kodak cheated on me by sleeping with another woman. Are you still going to marry him? What assurance do you have that he won’t cheat on your
Zeeva’s question caught me off guard, but I wasn’t entirely surprised since I had overheard their conversation before.
Her pain resonated with me, and I found myself agreeing with Alpha Kodak to keep the pregnancy hidden until after the marriage. But how could I comfort her in this situation? She was a wonun scored. Then, I remembered the scars on Alpha Kodak’s back.
If Zeeva’s father was responsible for those scars, then Alpha Kodak’s debt and commitment to her were fulfilled.
“I appreciate your concern, but 1 prefer to keep my reasons for marrying him privately,” I said seriously, observing her expression shift to disappointment.
“If 1 may ask, have you slept with him yet?”
Her question about whether I had slept with him caught me off guard. Even if I had, I wouldn’t discuss such a private matter with her.
We weren’t friends and never would be. I only tolerated her out of guilt for carrying Alpha Kodak’s child.
“I’m sorry, but that’s a personal matter,” I replied.
Disappointment lingered in her eyes but was quickly replaced by determination. “If you’re not the one he slept with, then there must be someone else. He’s deceiving both of us.”
A vengeful smile played on her lips, indicating her desire to team up with me to get back at Alpha Kodak.
However, I wasn’t in love with him, despite his charm and power.
All I wanted was to have this pup for myself. Zeeva, on the other hand, seemed spoiled, possibly due to her parents always being around.
Why else would she be so desperate for a man who no longer wanted herf
In moments like these, I was grateful for my tough upbringing
“I don’t care about his choices, but this marriage benefits me, I geered the conversation to my advantage. or heartless.
unconcerned if she viewed me as selfish
I was determined not to reveal that my unexpected pregnancy was the reason I ended up with Alpha Kodak.
“So, it’s all about the benefits for you!” Her disappointment was evident as she asked. I mustered a smile and replied,
“One day, if you find yourself in a leadership position, you’ll understand my perspective and decisions.”
If it weren’t for the future of my pack, I wouldn’t have agreed to this marriage, but she expressed her disappointment directly.
Tm disappointed,” she told me.

1 understood her perspective and couldn’t change her mind, so I responded honestly. “Only the emotions of my pack members matter to me Thank you for visiting”
There was nothing more to discuss, but it seemed that Zeeva wasn’t ready to leave my pack yes. “Are you sending me away?” she asked seriously, and I was straightforward with her.
“Unless you have anything else to say
The pain in her eyes deepened my guilt as she began to reveal the details of her relationship with Alpha Kodak
“Kody got engaged to me, and yet he broke up with me because he slept with another woman, and now you want to marry him? Don’t you care!”
Of course. I cared, but how could I tell her the truth or the details of my relationship?
I’m sorry for what happened to you. I really am, but “The harsh noise of a chopper interrupted our meeting, and Cassius rushed into the living room before he could announce the arrival of whoever came in the chopper, a familiar figure stormed into the room.
It was Alpha Kodak, and his words indicated that he had heard a few things, preempting Cassius
“You do not need to be sorry, Lovelle Alpha Kodak said seriously. I saw fear and longing in Zeeva’s eyes at the sight of him
Her eyes glistened with unshed tears, which saddened me as Alpha Kodak addressed her directly.
“Zeeva, 1 demand that you leave and never come back. I will instruct the warriors here to never let you in.”
I vividly remembered that Alpha Kodak was at his pack when we spoke on the phone, so how did he get here so early?
Then it dawned on me. He must have used the chopper to arrive quickly, while Zeeva was sorrowful and professing her love for him.
*Kody, I love you”
“Enough of it,” Kodak raged, his expression stern, reminding me of our first meeting. But what about all the reports of how gentle and caring he was towards Zeeval
The sudden change in his expression made me question if he truly loved her as the rumors suggested.
“Cassius, never let her come here again,” he commanded my beta, who nodded fearfully.
I couldn’t blame Cassius, as Alpha Kodak was truly intimidating this morning
Cassius escorted the helpless Zeeva out of the packhouse while Alpha Kodak suddenly embraced me.
A strange warmth enveloped me, a result of the bond we shared through our pup, but I pulled away, not wanting to grow accustomed to it
How did you get here so quickly? I asked, seriously. He was unamused by my withdrawal and replied.
“I used the chopper. Loverheard Cassius mention her arrival on the phone. You didn’t hang up.”
“Oh. But I owe her an explanation,” I pointed out, which seemed to upset him.
“You owe her nothing”
If only he would explain what he meant by that, maybe I could better understand and comply with his wishes next time.
“Then perhaps you owe me an explanation. What did you sacrifice!” I inquired, hoping he would open up to me given the circumstances, but he remained closed off.
I already set a condition for that, but I’m not leaving. I’ll stay until we attend the mating ceremony together, Alpha Kodak stated firmly.
His tone was not one of inquiry this time, which sent a shiver down my spine, but I stood my ground. This was my pack, and he couldn’t simply
“You have no right to refuse, Lovette,” he said, addressing me by name without my title, which left me feeling unsettled. However, a sense of calm washed over me, and the weariness that had been tugging at my heart seemed to fade.
Perluja I shouldn’t have voiced it so loudly because, in the blink of an eye, he scooped me up in his arms.
“What are you doing? Put me down,” I protested, attempting to free inyself from his grasp.
Desgate my strength, I didn’t want to risk harming my pup, giving him the upper hand.

“Don’t resist. I’m only doing this for my pup, he said coldly, causing me to freeze in place. He then turned to Cassius, who had just returned after seeing Zeeva off
Please show me her room.
I shook my head, silently pleading with Cassius not to comply, but he seemed intimidated by Alpha Kodak and pointed toward the door to my bedroom upstairs.
Alpha Kodak ascended the stairs swiftly, carrying me effortlessly as if I weighed nothing.
As he gently placed me on the bed, I had no idea what was about to unfold next…
