Chapter 164
Karolos started laughing, a deep resounding sound which, she couldn’t lie, sounded sexy as fuck. She gave him a grin, “you find this funny?”
“Where did Lozano find you?”
“Internet. I auctioned off my virginity and he bought it for a cool mill.”
“No shit.” He nodded, “you love him?”
“Not yet. We’re working on it. It’s only been a couple weeks since we’ve been back together. These things take time. We’re both far too practical to say things we don’t mean.”
“I respect that. So, you aren’t really looking for a way to escape his nefarious clutches?”
“No.”
“You should have told me this,” he turned his head to Mercurio.
“If I’d known, maybe I would have. She refused to talk to us, so we were going on our observations.”
“I don’t talk to them Mr. Pavlidis because they stood by while my father beat me and disowned me, all five of them. I owe them nothing. My husband agreed to help them with business matters and the way they repaid him was to force me at gunpoint. You messaged me the other night, Mercurio, and I told you point blank I wasn’t interested in seeing you. I don’t think you grasp the seriousness. You all hurt me. You all abandoned me. Whether you say it was for my own good or otherwise, you broke my heart and threw me on the streets pregnant and relied on other families to take care of me. I don’t owe

She looked over her shoulder and noted he had a firearm pointed right at Mercurio. All the men in the room weapons and she found it curious how Karolos waved his own men to put
their weapons down.
She started to walk towards Tito and Mercurio hissed at her.

“We have things to discuss, Alcee. You have an inheritance from Dad.”

“His debt? I’m not part of it. You do what you want with it.” She nodded at Karolos, “it was a pleasure, Mr. Pavlidis but I’m not interested in a marriage alliance with anyone but the father of my son.”
“Alcee,” her mother calied out worriedly, “please, just stay and talk.”
“You brought a stranger, Mom.” She waved to the man sitting at the same table her mother was sat next to, “and you want to have a family conversation?”
“They are selling their family to me.” Karolos spoke up.
Interesting. I don’t give a fuck.”
“You curse a lot.”
*Not as a rule, no, but the Mariani family seems to bring the worst out in me.”

“Mr. Arace,” Karolos rose from his seat. “Can you contact Mr. Lozano and let him know we will personally escort his wife and his consigliere back to his offices? It is clear there was a significant misunderstanding, and I would very much like to clear it up.” He shot a look at Mercurio. “Before you bring intel to me in the future, I suggest you verify it. You portrayed your sister as a weak–minded woman who has been abused and taken advantage of her entire life when it is clear, the abuse she suffered came from her family and the abuse has made her a strong and resilient woman. Torquato Lozano is fortunate to boast such a prize on his arm, but I am not in the habit of kidnapping women. I wish to apologize in person to both Don Lozano and his Donna.”
Tito frowned and then nodded, “sure. You can drive us back, but you should know he already sent a full fucking army. If you’re traveling in any direction but the office building, they’ll shoot to kill, and they won’t care if they shoot through me to get to you if it means saving their Donna.”
“You would die for her?” the question from Alcee’s mother made Tito scoff.
“Did you not hear me say she is the Donna? You heard bits and pieces of what happened at dinner the other night, Mercurio, but what you all failed to hear is how Torq made it truly clear to everyone there, she is his wife and her decisions overrule his. If she went to him right now and/ told him to turn over his entire business to her, he wouldn’t balk. It means, she,” he pointed to her, “is my boss.”
“Interesting.”
“She is the only one he trusts in his bed, Mr. Pavlidis,” Tito said respectfully, “even I don’t get such a level of trust from the Don.” He lifted his phone to his ear, “boss, I got her. We’re going to be coming back with an escort. It seems Mr. Pavlidis was misinformed about Alcee’s state, and he would very much like to make an apology in person. He will provide our transport back to the offices.”
“Fuck, I’m halfway there,” Torq grunted. “I’ll turn back but if he’s not in my office in thirty minutes, I’ve got my eye on his family estate in Corfu. His mother looks lovely in her pretty blue sunhat.”
Alcee watched Karolos stiffen.
“I understand, Mr. Lozano. We

“You fucking idiot, you’ve just pissed off the Don of the Lozano family and my brother all in one go. I would suggest you begin figuring out how you’re going to make it up to our family, to the Donna of the Lozano family and to her husband. I’m starting to understand why your family is a failure.”
Alcee shot a kiss over her shoulder at her brother, “bye!” as she was escorted out of the deli.
