Don’t talk. Just breathe deeply and save your strength, Simone instructed, her focus unwavering despite the growing fatigue in her arms

Noucing her trembling hands, Graham silently complied. He closed his mouth and concentrated on his breathing as Simone had told him

Chapter 43

The driver was in far worse shape than Graham, barely clinging to life. Simone didn’t hesitate. She fore her clothes into strips to make makeshift bandages, quickly wrapping his wounds to stop the bleeding. Then she tried to pull him out of the car

At that time, the piercing wail of an ambulance siren cut through the chaos. Paramedics arrived and took over, carefully extracting the driver from the wreckage Simone followed them into the ambulance, heading straight to the hospital

Cyrus felt a wave of panic when he saw the trending news, Grabbing his car keys, he rushed to the hospital. He turned what should have been a thirtyminute drive into just ten. He silently prayed on the way. Please, let Simone be okay

It wasn’t until Cyrus saw Simone sitting safely outside the ICU that the tension in his chest finally eased

Simone, bored from waiting, had just decided to step out for some food. As she stood up, her eyes met a pair of bloodshot ones staring straight at her

Cyrus’s eyes were terrifyingly red, like those of a wild animal. Simone could see a berce, almost savage intensity in them. It was so different from his usual composed and reserved demeanor

Almost instinctively. Simone took a few steps back as Cyrus approached

Cyrus didn’t seem to notice her retreat. In an instant, he closed the distance and pulled Simone into a tight embrace. I’m late,” he said, his voice trembling

Simone finally realized how shaken Cyrus was. She let him hold her and gently pat his back to calm him down. After a moment, she cautiously asked. Are you okay!”

I saw the news, the car explosion 1 thought you’d gotten hurt trying to save someone, Cyrus said as he slowly released Simone. His eyes, though calmer now, still carried traces of fear

Im fine.” Simone replied, sensing the worry in his voice. She hesitated briefly before explaining, I was Graham who was in the accident

Cyrus stared at Simone, his gaze unwavering, but he said nothing

Thinking Cyrus was worried about Graham, Simone tried to reassure him, Don’t worry, Graham is fine.”

After a long silence. Cyrus finally asked, You don’t even like him. Why would you save him?”

Cyrus learned from the news that the situation had been incredibly dangerous. The car was on the verge of exploding. Simone had practically risked her life to pull Graham out

The thought of what could’ve happened if the car had exploded during Simone’s rescue made Cyrus’s chest tighten. Even though it was Graham ut danger, Cyrus’s first and only concern had been Simone’s safety

After a moment, Simone finally answered, Because he’s your father.”

Cyrus froze, feeling as though something had shattered and reassembled in his chest all at once

Simone continued softly, If something happened to him, you’d be heartbroken. I didn’t want you to go through that.”

Cyrus stared at Simone, her words echoing in his mind. Unable to hold back, he reached out and gently ruffled her hair. He said. You little tool. No matter what, your safety will always come first.”
