Surprisingly, my soul floated midair. I didn’t disappear right away.

I watched Healer Petra Holmes gasp the moment the scalpel dove into my skin, and only one kidney was found.

“Why does she only have one kidney?” she boomed. “This is ridiculous! How could they make her donate her kidney when she

only has one? This is murder!”

Just then, her assistant panicked and yelled, “Healer Petra, the patient’s stopped breathing. What’s going on?”

Only then did they realize I was poisoned by wolfsbane. It was already so deep in my system that I was beyond saving.

“Healer Petra, what do we do now?” the assistant asked, clearly flustered.

Looking resigned, Healer Petra shook her head and said, “Continue the surgery. Since the patient’s already dead, let’s not waste

the kidney.”

I drifted out of the operating room. Outside, Mom, Dad, and Simon were all waiting anxiously.

“Why isn’t the surgery over yet?” Mom asked, looking worried. “They’ve been in there for so long!”

“Don’t worry,” Simon replied, comforting her. “I hired the best healer in the Lunaris pack. This surgery is a cakewalk for her, and

they’ll be fine.”

But his words did nothing to ease Mom’s worry. Her wolf was also panicking, and despite her efforts, it refused to calm down.

Patting her shoulder, Dad said, “I underwent a kidney transplant surgery once. It’s just a minor surgery. Don’t worry!”

Five years ago, Dad had mistakenly consumed something that caused kidney failure. Both Laila and I were a match, and we were

willing to donate a kidney to save him.

But Laila was physically weaker than I was. After some discussion, my family had decided to use my kidney, and I agreed.

Everything was supposed to go smoothly. But the day before the surgery, Laila kidnapped me.

The next day, no one could find me when it was time for the operation. They panicked, but it was then that Laila volunteered to

take my place and donate her kidney.

However, the one who ended up in the operating room was me.

Laila injected me with a heavy dose of anesthesia, and I was too weak to fight back. I was taken straight into surgery.

After they took my kidney, she dumped me at the edge of the forest.

Dad made a full recovery after receiving my kidney, but everyone believed it was Laila who had made the sacrifice.

When I finally healed enough to stumble back into my home, the first thing got was a slap across the face from my furious

mother.
