Chapter 30 Eye for an Eye
“I want the truth.”
“That is the truth.”
Stella narrowed her eyes slightly, catching the smirk forming at the corner of Raine’s mouth.
Feigning discomfort, she leaned forward and rested her head lightly against Moses’s chest, continuing, “They told me to say it… They didn’t want you getting mad at Luna.”
That brat!
James cursed silently, drenched in sweat, while still forcing a smile.
Moses immediately wrapped an arm around Stella, his eyes sweeping over James like ice.
“What happened?”
“It’s just the two sisters roughhousing at home. Kids fight and mess around-happens in every family. No big deal.”
Moses was silent for a moment.
It was only a few seconds, but to James and the others, it felt like an eternity.
“What did she hit her head on?” Moses’s fingers gently stroked the back of Stella’s neck.
“A teacup.”
Stella could feel the deliberate gentleness in his gesture. She wasn’t used to it, but knowing he was playing along with her act, she let it slide.
Moses raised an eyebrow.
“Liam, go bring a teacup from inside.”
“Yes, sir.”
Liam quickly returned with a small porcelain cup.
Moses didn’t take it. Instead, he guided Stella’s hand to receive it.
“If it was just a sisterly prank, then maybe you should return the favor. A little give and take—keeps the bond strong.”
“Huh? I don’t know if that’s a good idea…” Stella obediently took the cup and played with it in her hand. “What if I mess up her face?”
“Sisterly bickering is nothing serious. That’s what Mr. James said, right?” Moses gave James a long, meaningful look.

Chapter 30 Eye for an Eye
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
James’s mind was screaming with alarm bells.
Luna, hearing her face might get hurt, immediately ducked behind Raine.
She had a date with John-there was no way she could afford a facial injury!
Raine quickly caught on and grabbed James’s sleeve, shaking her head frantically.

“That, that wouldn’t be right. Stella, your sister didn’t mean it. How about I have her apologize to you?”
“So after Luna apologizes, do I still have to fork over twenty million to help you build your cemetery?”
Stella gave him an innocent look, eyes wide and pleading.
“Does the Johnson family really need their younger generation to pay for the cemetery?” Moses asked calmly.
Under Moses’s piercing gaze, James broke out in a cold sweat.
“Of course not! A kid shouldn’t pay for that kind of thing. As her father, I’ll cover it.”
“What about my medical expenses?”
Stella pointed at her own head. “At least five million.”
James was instantly speechless.
Five million?! Was she trying to rob him blind?
But with Moses’s eyes still icy cold, James didn’t dare offend Stella in front of him. He could only grit his teeth and say:
“Of course, five million for my daughter’s treatment is the least I can do.”
Stella suddenly felt a wave of satisfaction. “I just sent you my account number.”
Seeing that the frailty had disappeared from her face, Moses relaxed. His hand rested gently on her waist, and after confirming the transfer from James, his expression finally softened.
“Now that everything’s settled, I’m taking Mrs. Li home.”
“Mm… Okay.”
James felt like his heart was bleeding.
But Moses had already taken Stella and walked off.
Once they got in the car, Moses accidentally bumped her arm, making Stella let out a soft gasp.
He quickly caught her wrist and turned it over, revealing a patch of red swelling on her arm.

“It’s caused by the fire? Why didn’t you go to the hospital?!”
A flash of concern crossed Moses’s eyes.
Stella was briefly stunned. “How do you know about the fire?”
The moment she asked, she felt like she was overthinking.
This was Moses.
Was there anything in Capital City that he didn’t know?
“We’re going to the hospital.”
Moses gripped her wrist firmly-but carefully avoided her injury.
Back then, Stella had been too focused on arranging her mother’s urn to treat the burn properly.
Then Shane showed up and stirred everything up, and she completely forgot about it.
Seeing the dark look on Moses’s face, she quickly waved him off. “It’s just a little singe. Didn’t break the skin. I’ll put some ointment on at home-it’s fine.”
“No. We’re going to the hospital.”
Moses didn’t back down.
The driver slammed the gas pedal and sped toward the hospital.
Unable to argue her way out, Stella had no choice but to go along with Moses.
While Moses went to pick up the medicine, Stella waited on a bench in the hallway.
She was inspecting her arm when she suddenly saw Shane and Wendy walking out of a nearby room.
Wendy was clinging to Shane’s arm.
“It’s just some chest discomfort, and I still made you come all the way here with me.”
“As long as the test results are okay, it’s all good.”
Shane reassured her in a gentle voice.
But when he looked up, he locked eyes with Stella.
His gaze dropped-and he immediately saw the angry red swelling on her arm.
Without thinking, he pulled his arm away from Wendy and started walking toward her,
