Chapter 117 Someone Was Peeping Through The Window

Gabrielle gestured towards the window, lowering her voice as she spoke. “A figure just darted past. I’m certain it isn’t someone from the production team or Team A.”
“It seems like it was the villagers here, but I’m not sure if they were just passing by or…” Gabrielle didn’t hide anything.
After all, if it turned out to be a bad guy or a creep, letting them know would give them a heads–up.
“There’s no way they’re just passing by. There aren’t many households around here! Oh my, I’m feeling a bit scared,” exclaimed Jennifer, shrinking back a little.
Seeing this, Gabrielle whispered, “Tonight, I’ll sleep next to the window.”
“Should we tell the production team?” Nadia’s face turned a shade paler.
She had been exhausted all day. If she fell asleep and something happened, the consequences could be disastrous.
“Even if I speak up, it won’t make a difference. The person wasn’t really spying, and there’s a chance I might have seen it wrong. Furthermore, if someone really wanted to peep in the middle of the night…” Gabrielle said, her voice laced with a cold laugh.
Nadia and Jennifer observed her demeanor, and the panic they felt earlier seemed to have significantly subsided.
“It’s not a big deal. Trust me,” Gabrielle said.
Her words served as a comforting reassurance to them.
Gabrielle took out her backpack, pulled out a piece of cloth, and unfurled it, hanging it in front of the window and effectively blocking it off. In this way, even if someone tried to peep from outside, they couldn’t see inside.
She gave the window another push, ensuring it was in good condition and securely locked. Then, she tied a piece of rope to a metal disc, setting up a system where if the window were opened, the pulling motion would cause the disc to clang loudly.
“There. Time to shower and get some sleep,” Gabrielle said, stretching lazily after finishing everything.
After Brendan had showered, he said a quick goodbye and returned to his room to rest.
After they had finished their nightly routine and were ready to sleep, the production team remotely turned off the cameras, ending the day’s live broadcast.
However, the others who had just watched the live broadcast were frightened, and none wanted to sleep.
Some even went as far as privately messaging Patrick, hoping they would turn on the cameras outside the window. They wished to keep an eye out for the female celebrities remotely.
As for those private messages, Patrick saw but ignored them.
Although curious about the figure outside the window, Patrick chose not to interfere. After all, the online viewers were itching with anticipation. This would surely heighten their curiosity during tomorrow’s live broadcast.
Over at Team A, after all the boys had finished showering, Caleb felt unwell and decided to sleep early.
“Laughing so loudly? Do you think that’s going to attract attention?” Chloe was lying in bed, listening to the joyful laughter toming from next door.
This made her appear somewhat lonely. After all, she was the only woman among three men on her side.
All the men kept their distance from her, and Tristian seemed to avoid any contact with her.
Chloe was feeling somewhat irked. Initially, she felt that being the only woman here, she held all the allure. Unexpectedly, her current situation was making her somewhat uneasy.

She didn’t notice a figure darting past outside, watching her room for quite some time, seemingly ready to act.

In the dead of night, after everyone had fallen asleep, Gabrielle woke up alone, got dressed, and headed out. She went to the window and looked outside, then followed her instincts to somewhere not far off. She arrived at the entrance of a secluded courtyard.
“Marco?” Her almond–shaped eyes narrowed slightly.
After looking around the courtyard, she confirmed that the man was indeed the same one who had passed by her window earlier. Assured that he was still in the room and hadn’t left, she turned and walked away.
The village was eerily silent in the deep of the night. The rainfall had ceased. The only sounds were the buzzing of mosquitoes and the croaking of frogs echoing through the village.
Following the scent she had picked up earlier, she arrived outside a secluded house on the outskirts of the village.
Looking at the century–old tree planted outside the courtyard, she felt a sense of history emanating from the ancient house. She pushed open the door and stood in the courtyard, her eyes taking in the flowers and plants filling the space.
Numerous pieces of fabric were hanging inside the courtyard, evidently intended for making clothes.
“It seems this is the place,” Gabrielle said, after taking a look around.
She didn’t rush in immediately. Instead, she swiftly stepped back, shutting the courtyard door behind her and stealthily retraced her steps.
Although unsure if she was being overly sensitive, her conversation with Arthur at the Zechman manor still echoed in her
ears.
If the other party really is scheming against the Zechman family, they will surely get away. There is no way they will stay in Drocver any longer.
In that case, this remote mountainous region is the perfect choice. Communication is far from advanced here and almost completely disconnected from the outside world, making it the ideal hiding place.
However, these were merely her speculations. Once she confirmed the location, she planned to seize an opportunity during the day to observe further, hoping to make contact with someone in the courtyard.
With this thought, she returned to her residence. After changing her clothes and lying down, she fell asleep soon.
The following morning, Nadia was woken by the aroma. She licked her lips murmuring, “It smells so good. I want a bite.”
“I want some too,” Jennifer murmured softly.
In an instant, both of them flipped over, suddenly snapping their eyes open.
They looked at each other and then turned to see the space beside the bed. Gabrielle was nowhere to be found. Alarmed, they quickly got up, changed their clothes, and walked out in slippers.
“You’re up,” Gabrielle said, turning back with a smile.
Nadia and Jennifer were somewhat surprised as they approached her, noticing her rolled–up sleeves as she busied herself.
“Gabby, why are you up so early? Did you not sleep last night?” Nadia asked.
Brendan appeared from not far away, carrying a bucket of water towards her no sooner had she finished speaking.
“She was up by five–thirty in the morning,” Brendan said as he set the water aside.
In the vicinity, there was a well where people usually fetched water for daily use. Thus, Brendan took the initiative to draw water and bring it back, making it convenient for cooking later.
“Five–thirty in the morning? It’s barely past six now!” Jennifer gasped.

“Go wash up. We’ll be eating soon,” Gabrielle instructed.

No sooner had she finished speaking than several people immediately turned to freshen up. Although the cameraman hadn’t started work yet, the hidden cameras, except those inside the room, had all been turned on since five in the morning.
Around five in the morning, many people who had been up all night flocked over when they spotted Gabrielle.
After the rain stopped, she went off herself to pick mushrooms. This woman truly has an impressive amount of energy.
I’m curious about what delicious dish she’s planning to make.
She’s just like Snow White! Not only is she hardworking, but she also can do anything.
The fans were so engrossed that they wished they could affix their eyes to the screen, terrified of missing even a single glimpse of her.
After Nadia and the others had finished brushing their teeth and washing their faces, Gabrielle came over carrying food. She placed it on the stone table and conveniently arranged the cutleries.
“Breakfast is simple. I whipped up a plate of stir–fried mushrooms and some spiced mashed yams. Besides, I turned the yam stems into a tangy and spicy delicacy. It’s a traditional dish from the countryside.”
“I also made a vegetable stew, using a few shrimps I found by the creek as the base,” Gabrielle said.
