“Let’s go. The waves seem a bit off earlier,” Gabrielle, carrying a fish, told Brendan.
Gazing at the fish he had caught, Brendan was still basking in the joy of his accomplishment. Her warning, however, drew his attention back to the shoreline. The sight that met his eyes was half the sky across the shore painted red, reminiscent of a hery sunset.
“The sky is indeed very red, and the air feels heavy as if it’s about to rain,” Brendan murmured.
Instantly, the two of them quickened their pace. By the time they returned to the cave, it was already six o’clock.
Nadia and Jennifer spent their time gathering plenty of dry firewood and storing it in the cave. They also took care of the wild grass surrounding the area. From a distance, they saw two people carrying fish, heading toward them.
“They’re back. They’re back, Jennifer exclaimed, her eyes fixed on the two figures in the distance. Overwhelmed with excitement, she eagerly pulled Nadia forward.
At that moment, she had completely forgotten about Nadia’s status as a popular rising star, seeing her simply as a young girl.
“You guys went fishing? You’ve caught so many?” Nadia excitedly approached them, circling the two of them once, her stomach growling loudly from hunger,
The celebrity was accustomed to eating little, to begin with. Coupled with a small meal in the morning before hitting the road and skipping lunch after arriving at the forest, they were so hungry. They could hear their stomachs growling louder and louder. Furthermore, it was already evening.
“You guys are really impressive. We didn’t see any fish when we came here. How did you catch them?” Nadia gasped in astonishment.
She was fixated on the fish, barely able to tear her gaze away
Brendan tilted his chin. Looking toward Gabrielle, he said. “The big ones were all caught by Gabby”
“You caught them barehanded?” Upon hearing this, Nadia was immediately intrigued.
Jennifer stepped forward, assisting Gabrielle in setting down the fish. All the while, she was pricking up her ears to their conversation, evidently curious about how they had managed to catch them

“Gabby, next time something like this happens, make sure to include me.” Nadia looked up at Gabrielle with teary eyes, a pitiful sight to behold.
She, who had always been mature and steady, began to act coy in front of Gabrielle.
“All right. I’ll invite all of you next time.” Gabrielle said, completely indifferent to her coquettish behavior.
She rolled up her sleeves, handling the fish with a dagger in hand. Meanwhile, Brendan and Jennifer went off to fetch water. carrying various items with them. Nadia had run off again. This time, she was gathering firewood
The group divided the tasks efficiently, and it wasn’t long before they had prepared the fish.
“Gabby, you’re so impressive. Nadia admired as she watched Gabrielle. “Who else would have thought to bring along a collapsible pot and stand?” She watched in awe as Gabrielle took out the pot and the stand.
She skillfully sliced the fish and then placed them on the grill.
She sliced the remaining fish into pieces and tossed them into the fire she had started. She then foraged for some local ingredients to add to the mix. Finally, she crushed some freshly picked peppers and sprinkled them on top.
“Are you a chef?” Brendan was taken aback.
Gabrielle chuckled softly, her gaze shifting to the fire as she spoke. “Growing up in the mountains, I often had to fend for myself. I was the one who cooked my mentor’s meals.”
“So, did you learn to identify medicinal herbs back then as well?” Nadia curiously asked.
After flipping the fish, Gabrielle continued, “Hmm, my mentor was well–versed in medicine. I learned traditional medicine from him, and identifying medicinal herbs is the most basic introductory course.”
Jennifer listened, her gaze filled with a touch of envy as she looked at her.
“Gabrielle, you’re really amazing. I’m so envious of you,” she said.
At first, she was somewhat timid, afraid she wouldn’t fit into this group. Surprisingly, they were all quite easygoing, nothing like the cutthroat competition she experienced in previous shows.
Now, the anxiety she had been harboring finally subsided.
Without any need for guard, she also became lively.
“There’s no need for envy,” Gabrielle said. “Life in the mountains is harder than you’d imagine. If you can’t handle hardship, it’ll either break you or drive you mad. However, I was abandoned by my family when I was three, so I grew up in the
mountains during my younger years. I suppose I got used to it, and that’s why I don’t feel lonely”
People who had lived in the city couldn’t possibly stay in the mountains for an extended period of time.
Upon hearing her words, everyone was taken aback.
“Abandoned by your family?” Nadia was taken aback. Her attention had been completely focused on the fish earlier, the aroma making her mouth water, However, Gabrielle’s words instantly diverted her attention,
Gabrielle smiled nonchalantly, her expression as carefree as a gentle breeze. She said. “It’s not like every parent loves their
child.
Her sentence instantly silenced everyone.
“All right. Let’s get ready to eat, or else the fish will burn,” Gabrielle said, the fish on the grill releasing a rich, enticing aroma. The fish stew in the pot was also steadily releasing steam, prompting them to pick up their spoon and fork.
Their utensils were hastily whittled from a dagger, far from perfect, but they were serviceable enough. Having gone a day without food, the group didn’t stand on ceremony and began eating right away.
in addition, the other two fish were gifted to the director bu Cali
