Chapter 58 Why Did The Seavers family Adopt Her

He didn’t notice the deafening crash outside the window. A bolt of lightning, golden and blinding, ripped through the sky, shattered the glass, and shot into the room
When Gabrielle noticed Jonathan’s furrowed brows, she quickly drew a sigil and summoned lightning from the sky, channeling it straight into the bathtub. All she could see was the tall figure of the man submerged in the bloodied water.
As soon as the sigil was thrown in, water splashed everywhere, and a thick, misty steam filled the bathroom, wrapping around both of them.
Gabrielle stood still, her hands clasped behind her back, eyes fixed through the fog as she watched Jonathan. The veins that had bulged and twisted under his skin were now being pressed back down by the glow of the sigil paper and golden lightning. From outside the door, a tall figure came running.
When he saw the lightning flash through the broken window, he pushed the door open and stepped inside, stunned by what
he saw.
“Holy crap. Michael blurted, completely shocked.
The scene in front of him was so surreal that he thought he was hallucinating. Blood flowed from the side of Jonathan’s neck. and as it oozed out, the color turned to a deep red.
Michael stood just behind Gabrielle, watching as she flicked a sigil paper into the air, sticking it directly onto Jonathan’s neck. He saw the sigil paper melt into the man’s skin, and then, unbelievably, the wound began to close
Michael’s lips parted slightly, frozen in place as though hit by a jolt of electricity, watching Gabrielle lean in closer.
Her clothes were soaked, water dripping from her sleeves. Her hands were braced on either side of Jonathan. She glanced down at him, her eyes soft.
“Thanks,” Jonathan’s low, raspy voice brushed against her ears.
His warm breath lingered near her face. Gabrielle lifted her gaze to meet his dark eyes. His handsome face, which had looked deathly pale before, was now slowly regaining color.
“I was only able to pull out some of the poison,” she said in a hushed voice. The amount in your system’s been reduced, so the chances of another flare–up are lower now. That pill just now will only hold off the symptoms for two weeks.”
She began to straighten up, but Jonathan suddenly grabbed her wrist. His fingers were cold, and the chill spread through her: arm, making her shiver. She looked down at his large hand wrapped around her wrist.
“Why are you grabbing me?” she asked, her brows tightening slightly.
Jonathan slowly let go after meeting her eyes, his voice quiet and hoarse. “Do you sell your sigils?”
“I don’t, Gabrielle replied flatly.
Without sparing him another glance, she turned and walked out. Michael and Charles stood just outside, having seen everything, watching her go.
Charles quickly followed after her. “Mrs. Zechman, are you hungry? Want me to whip up a snack?” he asked, hustling to keep up.
If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes just now, he wouldn’t have believed it. She had literally called lightning down on Jonathan, forced the blood out of him, then sealed the wound like it was nothing.
And that wound closed the moment she slapped the sigil on.
“No need, Cabrielle answered, heading back to her room.
After drawing several sigils that night, she felt completely wiped out. She collapsed onto the bed and shut her eyes. Without thinking, she reached out and grabbed a piece of chocolate, popping it into her mouth.

“Sure did,” Mori replied, his devilishly charming face lighting up with amazement.
It was the first time he’d ever witnessed a treatment like that. It felt straight out of a fantasy.

“Let me see that wound,” Michael said, leaning in to examine Jonathan’s neck. The wound looked like it was healing–no signs it had ever been sliced open.
Unable to resist, he poked at it. “Does it hurt?”
Jonathan ignored the question and politely asked him to leave. After rinsing off, he put on a fresh bathrobe, tied it, and stepped out. After checking Jonathan’s pulse and giving him a full exam, Michael’s previously tense expression finally eased
- up.
“Yeah, it’s gotten a lot better. Your body was pretty much shot before. Last time, she performed acupressure and managed to suppress the poison. This time, she drew blood, and your pulse feels stronger than it has in months. She really pulled a lot of that poison out of you. Judging by how she did it, you might actually survive this. But what kind of medicine did she even use?” Michael asked, genuinely curious.
Jonathan handed over the list Gabrielle had given him earlier. Michael took it, squinting at the names,
These are all médicinal herbs, but the main catalyst’s missing! What did she use to actually activate the detox process?” Michael asked, clearly surprised.
He was a total medical junkie, and this kind of puzzle only made him more hyped.
“I don’t know. She never asked me for anything. From the time she left the boat until she got home, she didn’t buy a single thing. Jonathan replied seriously.
Michael sank into the couch, tapping his chin.
“If she didn’t buy anything, then whatever it is must’ve come from the island. No. I need to rewatch her variety show,” Michael said, and in a flash, he was gone.
Moments later, the sound of an engine starting echoed from downstairs.
Jonathan stayed in the room, slowly walking toward the floor–to–ceiling window. With his hands behind his back, he stared out at the night sky. Right then, he realized something–his body felt incredibly light. A huge chunk of the fatigue he’d been dragging around was suddenly gone. And that didn’t make sense.
After being bled like that, he should’ve been drained, barely able to stand. But it was the opposite.
“What exactly did she give me he muttered, his voice scratchy.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Keiran entered, holding an iPad, his expression solemn. “Mr. Zechman,” he said softly.
“What did you find?” Jonathan asked.
Keiran stood behind him respectfully, his voice low. “We’ve gathered the evidence. The Seavers family laid a trap for Mrs. Zechman. From the start, they were only interested in controlling her. When she signed with Seavers Group, it was all about. using her to the fullest.”
“For some reason, they’re unreasonably obsessed with their adopted daughter. They’ve gone out of their way to keep her close. When she replaced Mrs. Zechman, the Seavers didn’t just allow it–they hacked her fully, even helped push Mrs. Zechman aside. Keiran’s expression darkened.
It’s hard to understand. How can someone treat their own blood like that?
“Dig into Chloe’s background,” Jonathan said coldly. “Find out where she came from and why the Seavers adopted her. Also, check everyone in the Zechman residence. I want to know if any of them have ties to the Seavers?
Keiran blinked in surprise, cautiously asking. “You think there’s a mole in the Zechman residence?
“Six months ago, the Seavers family suddenly brought Gabrielle back. What was their motive? They didn’t restore her place as the rightful daughter–they just used her, plain and simple,” Jonathan began.
