Chapter 15 Jonathan Had Assigned Her A Driver
Gabrielle was somewhat puzzled as she turned around, only to see Charles approaching her with a food container in hand. He said, “Mr. Zechman said that you’re going out today and probably won’t have time for breakfast. I’ve packed something for you to eat on the way.”
Charles then handed over the food container.
Gabrielle didn’t expect food to be prepared for her. During her time at the Seavers residence, no one ever bothered to set aside meals for her, no matter how busy she was. Only if there were leftovers would she be able to get some food.
Having grown accustomed to a spartan life in the monastery, she didn’t mind the treatment.
As she looked at the food container handed over by Charles, she froze. This was the first time someone had prepared food for her, and a flood of emotions overwhelmed her.
“Thank you,” Gabrielle quickly said, reaching out to accept it.
Charles then signaled the driver to come over, but Gabrielle declined.
“There’s no need to send me. I’ve just called a taxi and it should be here any minute. I’m heading out to film a reality show, so it’s not convenient for me to ride in your car. I don’t want to attract any unwanted attention from the paparazzi and cause trouble for you guys,” Gabrielle explained.
Although she didn’t mind, she chose to avoid it when possible.
The filming of the reality show was likely the Seavers family’s attempt to cause her trouble one last time, possibly even endangering her life. Therefore, it was best to avoid involving the Zechman family as far as possible.

“Understood,” Charles hastily acknowledged her reason.
He watched as Gabrielle walked out nonchalantly, carrying her luggage bag. The latter’s figure was solitary yet exuded a resilient aura.
Charles was somewhat entranced, only murmuring to himself after Gabrielle had gotten into the taxi and left. “Mrs. Zechman is really different from the other wealthy ladies.”
After getting in the car, Gabrielle stowed her belongings. Upon touching the food container and finding it still warm, she quickly opened it. Inside, she found two sandwiches, a couple of pastries, a churro, and some side dishes.
She didn’t hesitate and began to eat. After finishing her breakfast, she discovered something hidden beneath the food container.

Gabrielle hurriedly opened the package, only to find it filled with snake repellent. She bent down to take a whiff, realizing that the quality of the items Charles had given her was even better than what she had purchased from the pharmacy the night before.
“Did Jonathan instruct him to prepare this for me?” Gabrielle wondered.
After all, only Jonathan knew she was going to participate in a reality show on a deserted island. She had casually mentioned it to him back then, and Charles had purposely brought her breakfast that morning, along with the snake repellent.
With that thought in mind, she quickly stuffed the it into her bag.
Though she had prepared some the night before, she believed that one can never be too careful.
However, she was fully aware that the kindness from the Zechman family was not entirely free of self- interest. Jonathan’s life was in her hands after all.
“Excuse me, how long will it take to get to the dock?” Gabrielle asked.
Upon hearing the question, the driver turned around and responded respectfully, “It will probably take about an hour and a half. We will definitely arrive before nine.”
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Gabrielle was taken aback and looked up.
Looking at the driver’s profile, she recognized him as the same man who had driven her out to the pharmacy the previous night. He’s a driver for the Zechman family. What is he doing driving for a ride–hailing service all of a sudden?
When she recalled how someone was already at the door the moment she booked a ride on the ride hailing app was clearly suspicious.
It was evident that someone had anticipated her need for a car and had purposefully arranged for one to wait outside. After all, the Zechman residence was located in a remote area with little traffic.
Staring blankly at the driver, Gabrielle pause for a moment before turning away with no further questions.
Throughout the journey, she was in a daze, dozing off intermittently. The car finally arrived at the dock at eight forty.
She got off the car with her backpack. The driver promptly stepped forward to pass her the luggage bag. “Please thank him for me,” Gabrielle said as she accepted the luggage bag and walked past the driver.
The driver was left stunned for a moment, realizing that she might have figured out that it was Jonathan who sent him.
“Alright.” the driver responded. swiftly turning the car around and driving off.

Gabrielle, clad in her boots, strode forward. The host and the cameraman were already waiting up ahead. As soon as they spotted her, the camera immediately swung in her direction.
“Are you Gabrielle Simmons? Welcome.” The host hurriedly stepped forward, shaking her hand as he addressed the camera, “Our first guest has arrived.”
Gabrielle glanced at the camera, noticing someone posting something int he comments section: Who is this? I don’t recognize her.
Seems like a mere extra.
Gabrielle Simmons? I just did a quick search on Twitter, she doesn’t even have an account.
After a momentary glance, she picked up her luggage and took a seat at a nearby spot.
She had indeed been consistently played minor roles since she joined Seavers Group. Whenever there was something tedious to do, Zachary would directly assign it to her. That was how she ended up with the menial tasks.
Despite acting for some time, the Seavers family made no further mention of providing her with additional opportunities.
Had she not been reincarnated, she might have continued to believe that they considered her as one of their own and treated her accordingly.
In truth, they merely wanted to exploit her, treating her like an unpaid housekeeper. She was expected to do menial tasks, run errands, deliver documents, and even cook at home. When someone fell ill, she was also expected to care for them.
Even when they had too much to drink at the club in the middle of the night, they would still ask her to come and pick them up.
These thoughts triggered a chilly glint in Gabrielle’s eyes. As she looked up again, she noticed some fans not too far away, cheering excitedly, “Chloe, Chloe.”
Following the direction of the voices, she saw Chloe. The latter was wearing a V–neck dress that highlighted her enchanting figure. Her long hair, slightly curled, added to her allure. She was carrying a Louis Vuitton bag and was approaching her with an elegant swagger.
Her face was adorned with a smug smile, her eyes and brows exuding an arrogant air. She waved at her fans while casually accepting a bouquet of flowers. She said, “Thank you all for coming to see me. I promise that this show won’t disappoint you. Love you all.”
“Wow, Chloe looks stunning! She’s the best,” the fans cheered.
Chloe blushed as she engaged with her fans. After the interaction, she turned to leave but accidentally twisted

“Be careful.” At that moment, a tall figure hurried over, swiftly wrapping his arms around her slender waist, pulling her into his embrace.
Chloe stumbled into the man’s embrace, catching a whiff of his scent. In her confusion, she looked up, meeting Caleb’s gaze. In a soft voice, she called out, “Caleb.”
“Did you twist your
ankle? Let me check.” Caleb supported her, his voice brimming with tenderness.
He crouched down, gently massaging her foot. He then turned his head to look at Gabrielle, his expression was insidious, and he looked like he was doing it to spite her.
“Wow! Caleb is so gentle. He and Chloe are a match made in heaven,” a fan shrieked with excitement.
Chloe’s hand rested on Caleb’s shoulder, giving him a slight nudge. With a blush spreading across her face, she reassured him, “Caleb, I’m fine. I just tripped and lost my balance.”
No sooner had she finished speaking than another figure approached.
He swept her off her feet and lifted her in his arms, carrying her to a nearby chair. After he had gently set her down, he turned toward the camera, giving a slight nod before saying, “I apologize. Chloe got a bit too excited earlier and accidentally twisted her ankle.”
