Chapter 4
Back in the Howl of the Moon Pack, my father brought me a potion to break the mate bond, his expression full of sorrow.
I remembered then that my father had never been satisfied with my mate, Liam. After all, Liam’s pack was small, and my
father had feared I would suffer because of it.
But at the time, I believed in the guidance of the Moon Goddess. I truly believed her guidance would bring me happiness.
Looking back, my choice had been so impulsive.
In order to ensure I received the respect I deserved, my father had given Liam many of the Howl of the Moon Pack’s
resources, but Liam never treasured them. Instead, he took it all for granted.
Seeing the exhaustion on my face, my father could not bear it and said, “You’ve been through everything that needed to be
experienced. What matters now is your own happiness. I will always be by your side.”
I nodded. I would live well and welcome a brand new life.
“Thank you, Dad.”
That evening, while I was enjoying a rich dinner, I received an unexpected message from Eva.
“Lily, where are you? Liam got drunk. He couldn’t find you and mistook me for you. You should come back and check on him.”
As she said this, her voice was filled with smug delight beneath the surface. Then, I heard Liam’s groan. It was the sound he
always made after intimacy.
“Liam, where are you touching? Wake up, I’m not Lily.” Eva’s voice was clearly not rejection but a hint of playful teasing.
I gave a cold snort. In the past, I might have screamed hysterically at them for constantly handling affairs late at night. But
that would never happen again.
I spoke calmly. “You’re his Beta, so it’s your job to take care of him.”
It was clear that Eva had no intention of letting it go. She feigned innocence and continued, “Lily, don’t take this the wrong way. Liam and I really are just superior and subordinate. I never intended to come between you.”
Liam spoke in a slurred voice. He truly sounded intoxicated and confused.
“Lily, you’re pregnant. Just rest well. Don’t overthink things. It’s bad for a pregnant woman. Tonight, we…” Liam tried to say more, but I no longer cared to listen.
I cut him off directly. “I left a gift for you on the table. Remember to look at it when you get home. And I wish you and Eva
happiness.”
