Ian, who had been excited just moments ago, felt as if a bucket of cold water had been dumped over him.

Kelvin was also stunned, holding the black card in his hand without moving. He hadn’t expected Yvonne to give it to him.

“Yvonne, why…” Kelvin paused, scooping her up from the floor and holding her in his arms as he asked in a low voice, “Why are you giving me money?”
Yvonne pointed at his phone lying on the table, pursing her lips with a hint of sadness. “Your phone is broken.”
So, she saw his phone was shattered and assumed he had no money?
Kelvin sighed inwardly and silently tightened his arms around her without saying a word.
Ian, standing nearby, was speechless. Even Jeremy, watching from the side, felt that his presence looked especially lonely.
Losing his money was bad enough, but now Ian had to stand here and watch his own niece share a heartwarming father- daughter moment with someone else.
His mood was exactly as Jeremy imagined–standing felt awkward, sitting felt wrong, and leaving wasn’t an option. He just stood there stiffly, watching his little niece bond with another man.
It was pure torture.
Perhaps his solitary figure looked too pitiful, because Vic poured a fresh cup of hot coffee and handed it to him.
With a slight curve of his lips, Vic smiled and said cheerfully, “Ian, here, warm yourself up.”
Ian averted his gaze to look at him, and when he saw the smile on Vic’s face, his eyebrow twitched.
If he had known this day would come, he should’ve found more excuses to beat up these little brats when they were
younger.
No matter how moved Kelvin was, he wouldn’t accept the card.
Holding Yvonne, he said warmly, “I have money. I’ll get a new phone later, but thank you.”
Yvonne hugged him back tightly, her concern evident. “Dad, if you ever run out of money, you have to tell me, okay?”
After all, she still had an uncle–her uncle could suffer, but her dad definitely couldn’t!
Sitting beside them, Ian checked the time, stood up, and got ready to take Yvonne home.
The moment she heard they were leaving, Yvonne’s face fell. “But I want to stay
with
you.”
She was reluctant, clinging to Kelvin’s arm and refusing to let go.
Ian crouched down beside her, coaxing her gently. In the end, he had to mention Tinley before Yvonne finally wavered.
She slowly released Kelvin’s arm and let out a melancholy sigh. “Alright then…”
Seeing her expression, Ian felt a strange sense of guilt, like he was doing something wrong.
But he had no choice. He had already lost too many battles–he couldn’t waver now. Yvonne was, after all, his family’s child.

tomorrow.”

Knowing they’d see each other tomorrow, Yvonne wasn’t as sad anymore. She bounced along beside Ian as they left.
Once she was gone, Kelvin contacted the moving company he had previously selected.
“When will the house renovations be completed?” His voice was calm but carried an undeniable authority.

The project manager glanced at the current progress, made some quick calculations, and replied, “Sir, at least three more days.”
Hearing the number, Kelvin’s brows furrowed slightly. He spoke with a commanding tone, “Finish it tonight.”
The manager hesitated, struggling to refuse politely. “I’m afraid that’s not possible…
Kelvin cut him off. “Triple the pay.”
The rest of the manager’s refusal got stuck in his throat. He immediately changed his tone.
“Understood, sir! It’ll be done tonight!”
