A servant took her to play with the other children, but they were all chattering loudly. She found it noisy and struggled to fit in, so she ended up feeling lonely.
She wanted to find her mother, but as soon as she stepped out of the courtyard, she got lost.
That old man’s house was similar to hers, a large estate with multiple courtyards, but it felt strange to her.
Lost and alone, Widi spotted Ian. His face seemed familiar, but she couldn’t quite place him.
He recognized Widi first and approached her, asking, “Widi, are you lost?” Widi nodded, and he lifted her up.
Despite not yet recognizing him, she rested her head on his shoulder and offered a polite and shy, “Thank you.”
At that time, she thought the good–looking man was only a few years older than her.
Ian smiled amicably at her and asked, “Don’t you remember me, Widi? I visited your house during Christmas. My last name is Holmes.”
That moment remained vivid in Widi’s memory. Even now, she would occasionally recall it.
Now that she was older, she found that all children looked the same. She would see them and forget their faces immediately, except for someone as beautiful as Yvonne.

Wilson was showing the bracelet he was wearing to lan happily. The latter said something in response, making Wilson’s smile grow wider.

As the two men kept talking, they stood up and left.
She was curious and told her mother about it, but her mother was busy chatting with a woman and didn’t pay attention to her, so she was able to slip away easily.
She had never expected her curiosity to lead to her accidentally breaking a porcelain piece that Wilcon had just recently bought.
Upon bumping into the servant, she froze. When the sound of the porcelain shattering echoed through the air, her mind went blank, and her body stiffened. She stood motionless with the fragments around her feet.
The servant Widi bumped into was terrified and bowed repeatedly in apology, but Widi remained frozen in shock.
Wilson walked over quickly with his cane. The smile on his face disappeared and was replaced with anger and distress.
The servant’s apology grew louder, but Widi remained motionless until Ian approached and crouched beside her amidst the broken porcelain.
He searched through the broken pieces until he seemed to find what he was looking for. Picking it up, he said something to Wilson.
After Ian finished speaking, the distress on Wilson’s face disappeared, but the anger intensified.
However, this time, it wasn’t directed at her.
Wilson told the terrified servant that it was fine and that it wasn’t her fault. He didn’t blame anyone. Instead, he muttered, “Let’s just be glad no one got hurt.”
Widi had no idea what had just happened. It felt like the whole situation had resolved itself before she even had a chance to
react.
Ian reached out and led her away from the mess, then asked if she had gotten lost again while looking for her mother. Dazed, Widi nodded.
So, he picked her up and carried her back.
Halfway to her seat, she suddenly remembered and asked about what had just happened. “Mr. Holmes, what did you say to Mr. Thornton? Why isn’t he mad at me?”
Even though she had just done something wrong, Ian was still kind to her and didn’t brush her off.
He told her that the porcelain piece was fake. When Wilson found out, he was no longer upset. Instead, he was even grateful to her and the servant for smashing it. Otherwise, he might never have known.
Hearing Ian’s explanation, Widi had only one thought in her mind. ‘He’s incredible.’
