Victor instinctively stepped in front of me. He picked up the red cape used for bullfighting and covered me entirely.
Shivering, he looked at the newcomer with a fawning smile. “Uncle Antonio, are you here to watch our rehearsal?
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I could’ve come to pick you up.”
Antonio narrowed his eyes, his expression cold. “Why do you have Grace’s phone?”
Victor glanced at the blood–stained phone in his palm and hesitantly asked, “Uncle Antonio, does Grace have any connection with your guys?
“Otherwise, how could I have answered her lover’s call and ended up speaking to you?”
At the mention of the word “lover,” Antonio’s face darkened instantly.
“Lover?”
“Well, they say family scandals shouldn’t be aired in public, but you’re involved in this after all.”
“It’s about my wife… The one my mother forced me to marry. I didn’t even attend the wedding. She must have held a grudge and ended up getting involved with some other man. She’s even pregnant with his child and trying to pin it on me.
“She never steps outside. Thinking it over, she could only have interacted with bodyguards or drivers in the house.

Antonio pulled out a gun, the click of loading echoing in the air.

Antonio suddenly grabbed her by the throat.
His guys finally arrived late, leaning in to whisper a report into his ear.
“Mr. Kaufman, the doctor we arranged for Ms. Parrish’s prenatal checkup at the hospital informed us… She’s been taken away.”
Barely conscious of the torment, I finally heard a familiar voice. I whimpered, trying to call out, but my throat had already given out.

Across half the stage, Antonio finally noticed the bundle wrapped in the
red cape.
As soon he lifted the cape, a bloody scene unfolded.
“Call an ambulance!”
Antonio held me tightly, his entire body exuding a chilling and even murderous aura.

The three stood frozen in place, too terrified to move. They nearly fainted from fear.
“Gracie, if only I had come sooner.

He wiped away my tears gently with my calloused fingers, which were accustomed to holding a gun.
I kept bleeding, soaking the carpet beneath me.
Antonio trembled as he lifted his blood–stained hands, letting out a guttural roar of pain.
“Don’t be afraid, Gracie. I’m taking you away right now.”
At the moment he rose, the beasts who had been prowling around me grew restless. Victor immediately struck, blinding the one who tried to lunge forward.
Blood splattered across Victor’s clothes, dampening his pants.

If that was true, they had just killed the rightful heir of the Kaufman family.
