Chapter 11

Ace and I walked silently through the pack, and I felt free as I walked beside him.

After my marriage to Aiden in my past life, I never left the castle. It became a prison… My prison. I had stayed in it so long that I no longer knew what the outside world was like.

The late afternoon sun cast a gentle golden glow over the smooth paths, and the tender glow illuminated the luscious trees and created a soothing ambiance. A smile split my face as I drew a deep breath and I felt my soul hum.

I could feel the hateful stares directed my way, but I didn’t give a care in the world. My smile was bold and bright as I walked passed them. This pack of people who hate me will soon regret their actions and the mere thought of that made me even happier. I will make them pay for every single one of them.

Ace suddenly moved closer to me and I looked up at him in confusion.

“Don’t worry, no one would dare to hurt you with me here. “He spoke, and I smiled at the gentleman.

“Don’t worry. I’m not scared.” I replied, and he raised a brow.

“I know who I am, and no one else can redefine me. I added, and he smiled.

I stopped when the smell of fresh pastries hit my nose, and Acc gave me a look as I began to look around.

“Hungry? “He questioned, and I blushed a little before nodding.

“Come. “He said as he held out a hand, and I started down at it in contemplation.

you want to. “Arila said in my head and I smiled as I took his hand.

I followed as he led me to a bakery not too far off and as we sat, he waved over a waiter.

“What will you have? “He questioned me, and I looked down at the menu in front of me.

“Cupcakes and doughnuts. “I replied, and Ace nodded.

“I’ll have coffee. “He said.

When

my order was eventually brought to me, I fought back tears as I remembered that I hadn’t tasted these in years. For five years, Aiden never let me taste any pastries. He said my duty was fo satisfy him sexually and if I grew fat, I would become ugly. and wouldn’t be able to do that. He said that then I would become utterly useless. So, I never ate pastries. Not even once.

Carla, on the other hand, could eat whatever she wanted because she trained rigorously, I was just a house dog kept for Aiden’s entertainment. I never trained or did anything to make me happy.

“Are you good? “Ace questioned as tears filled my eyes and I smiled at him as I started eating.

“Memories.. “I replied, and he smiled back.

We chatted and laughed over the meal, and I got to realize that Ace was such an interesting man to be around. He knew when to be stern, and he knew when to be soft. He had a remarkable sense of humor and a beautiful smile. Why isn’t he my mate? I would happily be the Beta’s mate, than be Luna to that tight–headed cunt, Aiden.

We had just stepped out of the bakery when a distant commotion caught my attention. It grew louder and more chaotic, sounding like a crescendo of distress, and my curiosity piqued.

I looked up at Ace, and his face held the same curiosity. However, on hearing the scream of a child, I left Ace behind and rushed to the crowd.

My eyes widened as I saw a man towering over a small, trembling girl. She looked somewhere around the ages of 6 to 7, and she was wounded and crying.

“Wolfless disgrace! You can’t do anything right! Do you have any idea how much that vase was!! It was a handcrafted gift for your mother, and you broke it! Even if you work your whole life, you will never be able to afford it! You’re such a waste of space! Why did the goddess curse me with a daughter like you!? “The man yelled, and his words stabbed my core. They struck

a chord deep inside me as I suddenly remembered the harsh words Carla, her family, and Aiden used to throw at me.

Tears filled my eyes and I watched in building anger as the little girl struggled to hold back tears.

I’m sorry… It was too heavy… ‘She cried and tears streamed down my face as I watched the frightened girl’s fragile body shake in fear and pain.

I felt a connection with the girl. She was so little and she was going through so much. I was at least above 13 when all my sufferings began. I was 16! And this little girl is facing pains I almost couldn’t handle as an adult.

I clenched my fists as I watched the scene, and just as Ace came to stand behind me, I heard Arila speak in my head.

“Ours!”

My eyes widened as I remembered the goddess’s words and instantly, everything fell into place.

“And… And my child? I questioned, and the beautiful goddess smiled at me, as she held my face.

JI will send her to you in another form. “She said, and a teardrop slid down my face.

“Another form?” questioned, and she smiled.

“Another person. “She replied and I nodded slowly.

This is my child. The one the moon goddess said she’d send to me in another form. It was no mistake. Arila just said it. Arila is a part of the goddess. She wouldn’t make a mistake like that Never!

I had been patiently waiting and trusting the goddess, and now I’d found her. My baby girl…

Without stopping to think, I pushed through the crowd, and Ace followed behind me. Our presence commanded attention, and the man paused, as he was about to hit the girl again. His face contorted in surprise as he stared up at Ace and me, but he turned his attention to Ace.

“B. Beta Ace. What. Brings you here? “He questioned, and Ace’s gaze narrowed as he stared at the weeping child, the man, the observing crowd, and back at the man.

“Release your grip on the child. “He ordered, and immediately, the man let go of the girl.

As the girl made to fall to the ground, Celine rushed to the fragile girl. She caught the child and sat on the ground as she cradled the trembling girl.

Celine’s eyes blazed with an otherworldly intensity as glared at the man.

“How dare you!? “She yelled at him, and everyone, including Ace, was shocked at the authority in her voice.

“How dare you hit a child little that!? Wolfless or not, she’s only a little girl. How dare you!? “She growled, and this time, Celine battled to hold Arila back.

“What is wrong with you? You all just watched him molest her “Celine raged. This time at the crowd, and they all took steps back as they watched Celine.

She looked dangerous. Devilish. She looked like a tiger whose cub had been hurt. She looked seconds away from causing an insane bloodbath.

“She is my child and I will do whatever I want with her! “The man yelled in a bid to take control of the situation, and Celine’s eyes began to glow as she growled at the man. Arila was fighting to come out, but the poison wasn’t letting her.

Ace noticed that something was wrong and that Celine would most likely hurt people if he let the situation escalate.

“How much do you want for her? “He then questioned and Celine looked up at him in shock, but she said nothing.

The disgusting man smirked as he stared at Ace, and after a few seconds, he spoke.

“60 pieces of gold! “The man announced, and the crowd gasped.

Ace pulled out a pouch and threw it at the man’s feet. Causing some of the gold in it to spill out.

“That is over three hundred pieces. The child is no longer yours. She will no longer bear the weight of your cruelty. She belongs to the royal family now, Understood? “Ace spoke, and the man nodded greedily as he made to pick the pouch up, but Ace grabbed his collar.

“If you and your family so much as look in this child’s direction again, I will chop your fingers off, force your eyes out, feed your tongue to dogs, and hang you naked at the entrance of the pack. “He growled, and the man began to tremble as Ace let go

Tears streamed down the young girl’s face as she clung tightly to Celine and hid her face in her chest. The act caused Celine’s heart to flutter, and she held the child closer to herself.

As Celine held the child, her love enveloped her like a shield against the cruelty of the world. She silently vowed to protect and nurture the child and guide her down the path of healing and self–discovery.

Ace took off his jacket and draped the little girl in it, but Celine didn’t let go of the child. Ace simply smiled at the sight and helped her up with the girl in her hands.

The crowd moved away as they made their way through, and when they were a safe distance, Celine looked up at Ace. “Thank you. “She whispered, and Ace smiled at her.

“No one ought to go through the things we did. “He replied, but his words confused her.

“Am I going to be a palace maid, Luna Celine? “The child then questioned, and Celine stopped dead in her tracks.

She was eager to save and get her child, but she hadn’t thought about what she’d say to Aiden, how she’d keep her child, or how she’d protect her child.
