Chapter 19

“I would like to dance with my mate,” Aiden’s voice filled the air, with his gaze fixed on me as he made his way towards Ace and me. I looked up at Ace, and the look on his face broke my heart.

For some reason, I was looking for a flicker of resistance, or defiance, but Ace’s gaze met mine with resignation. The weight of his Alpha’s command was heavy on his shoulders, and I knew better than to expect a man as loyal as Ace to disobey his Alpha.

“She looks so beautiful tonight, it’s only fair we have a dance,” Aiden continues as he takes hold of my hand, and my heart sinks as Ace steps away and Aiden pulls me to himself.

I notice Carla glaring at me from across the room with jealousy on her face, and it’s evident in the way her veins bulged on her neck. It is a look I have seen far too often, and surprisingly, this time it doesn’t excite me.

A heavy sigh escapes my lips as Aiden holds on to my waist, and I begin to battle tears. As we move together on the dance floor, I steal a glance at Ace with my heart filled with longing and sorrow, and I see anger in his eyes, and his fists balled.

I wish our dance wasn’t interrupted. Heck, I wish he could freely express his love for me. But here I am. I’m another man’s hands. A dick for that matter.

“You are mine, Celine,” Aiden suddenly breathes into my ear with his grip tightening possessively. His voice is possessive. Laced with a mix of desire and control, and it causes my heart to turn. He hasn’t changed one bit.

“I don’t care whatever the fuck you’re trying to pull, but you’re mine. Mine alone. And I will punish you for dressing so provocatively in public and letting another man hold you like that. “He adds, and I shut my eyes in exhaustion

After enduring the painfully boring dance with Aiden, I can no longer bear the sight of the jubilant crowd. Their laughter and noise do not help the chaos in my heart so, I excuse myself.

I find a way to escape the suffocating room and slip out of the hall, seeking peace of mind in the cold night air.

The moon’s gentle glow illuminates my path as I think about the mess I’m currently in

How will I be with Ace when Aiden and the entire pack are standing between us? I stare up at the midnight sky, searching for guidance in the moon.

“We will find a way, Celine. You won’t once again be stuck with Aiden. I promise Arila says, and I sigh.

“I hope you’re right. “I reply, but it’s difficult to keep calm when there’s no visible way out.

The weather is windy and rain is threatening to pour heavily as I get to the castles West bridge. I want to be alone. I need. I can’t go back into that hall because I can no longer stand that crowd or all the noise.

I stand still on the bridge and hug myself as I stare at the moon. As I listen to the lake flowing beneath the bridge, my mind wanders, and I hold my chest as remember my past.

In my past life, I had come here once in an attempt to kill myself because of Aiden. His words caused me so much pain, and just remembering them makes it difficult for me to hold back my tears.

I can’t get tied to that man once again. I can’t survive it. But how will I get away from him when Ace won’t even fight for me??

“Are you so miserable that you had to sneak past the crowd and guards to come and cry here in solitude?

What exactly did my Aiden say to you? “A voice suddenly speaks beside me, and when I turn to look, I see Carla.

She is walking up to me while holding up her flowing dress with both hands. She’s in a purple, flowing dress and has her long back hair in a firm bun.

I stare at her as she walks up to me and our entire relationship begins to play in my mind. Carla is beautiful. She has always been. Her enchanting brown eyes, voice of an angel, and body with dips and curves like that of a seductress, were the features that made everyone prefer her to me. Plus, the fact that she is the best female fighter in our pack.

But unlike everyone else, I knew the kind of devil Carla truly was. In front of everyone else, she acted innocent and sweet. But only I knew that she was and is a selfish witch.

Chapter 19

For all my life, Carla always went after everything I’ve ever held dear, and she always managed to steal them from me. She’s been doing it right from when we were young teenagers. She took whatever friends I managed to make, cheated me of my parent’s love, and took everything she could from me.

And finally, she stole “my mate” From me. Thankfully, this time, I have Ace. She can have Aiden for all I care. But all hell will break loose if she dares to even breathe in Ace’s direction.

“What are you doing here? Isn’t your party inside? “I finally question her, and she feigns a shocked expression as she stands beside me and rests her elbows on the railings of the bridge.

“Is it wrong that I came to check on my favorite cousin? “She replies, and I roll my eyes as I look away from her. I know Carla too well to know that she could never mean me any good or care about me. So, she’s up to something.

“You’re thinking about Aiden again, aren’t you? “She then questions and I scoff as I stare down at the lake.

“I keep telling you, cousin. Aiden doesn’t love you. So why do you keep pushing yourself on him? “She speaks, and I give her no reply.

“Aiden will never love you, and you’d forever be an embarrassment to him. “She continues, and I swallow as anger begins to bubble in my guts.

“I mean, look at you. Aiden is a powerful Alpha. Our ruler. Our king. And you? You’re a weakling. For star’s sake, we’re a warrior pack, and you can’t even defend yourself

What warrior king do you think would be okay calling you his wife?? His Luna! “She speaks again and I roll my eyes. It’s satisfying to see that she hasn’t noticed anything different about me. She still thinks I’m the old Celine. That’s good. It’s better for her to underestimate me.

“You’re a mistake in Aiden’s life, Celine, Instead of putting in all this effort to seduce him. Why don’t you just run away? Leave Save us all this embarrassment. “She speaks again, and I’ve finally had enough.

This pack is mine! “She growls as she plunges the final stab in my stomach.

At this point, I don’t know how many times she stabbed me, but I know that I lost a lot of blood because my vision suddenly began to go blurry.
