Chapter 2
I opened my eyes, and they were immediately hit with the warm rays of the morning sun. I blinked in shock as my mind ran over everything that just happened and I didn’t know how to react. I was even too scared to move.
“Hurry, the ceremony will start soon. We can’t be late! “I heard a voice say, and when I looked down, a maid was crutched at my feet, sewing some embroidery on my dress.
One was making my hair, and the other was tightening my corset. I looked up at the tall mirror in front of me, and I instantly remembered what day it was. My wedding day to Aiden Silverstone.
I gulped as I remembered the events that happened on this same day five years ago. We got married, but he didn’t mark me. He marked Carla instead and announced her to be his concubine. Meanwhile, after the ceremony. Carla lived like the Luna, and I was just a miserable maid Aiden used for his pleasure whenever he felt like it.
Never again! I will not be getting married to him this time. No! That was the major beginning of my sorrows, and I will not repeat that mistake.
I stared at my reflection, and I felt warm inside. I was in a beautiful dark green ball dress, my blonde hair was down in waves and had some pearls in it. My blue eyes popped with excitement, and I knew why. 5 years ago, there was so much sadness in them because I knew Aiden was only marrying me because of the prophecy that orders the Alpha to marry his mate if not doom would befall the pack.
But this pack never cared about me. So, I will not sacrifice myself for it. This pack stole everything from me, including my life. Now that I have another chance at life, I will look out for myself! I will not be the sacrificial lamb for them. They never cared about me, not even after I was going through hell with Carla and Aiden. I will not do that again.
“My lady, it’s time to go. “One of the maids then said to me as all the other maids stepped away from me. I stared one last time at my beautiful reflection, and I smirked at the young girl who was staring back at me.

I walked through the palace with maids behind me, and finally, I got to the ballroom. I walked past the pack elders on the podium and went to sit beside Aiden.
“It is unclear to me why they chose this colour for today. Green is such an ugly colour on you. Couldn’t they make you pretty for once? “He whispered merely seconds after I sat, and a small smile crept onto my face. Five years ago, he said these same words in the exact same way, and my heart broke. My confidence shattered more, and I felt hideous, But not this time.
I turned to him and looked him right in his shallow green eyes
“I don’t think all shades of green are ugly. The ones I’m staring at right now are, but I love the shade I’m in. They bring out my eyes. “I said, and his eyes widened as he realized that I insulted them.
“You seem to have grown some balls because You’re getting married to me. Don’t forget that I’m only doing this because of the pack elders. It doesn’t make you special. After our marriage, you will remain a maid! “He growled into my ear, and I smirked at
him.
“I will not be getting married to you today, Aiden. Not in a thousand years will I repeat that mistake. I would rather die. “I whispered back to him, and he stared at me in shock and confusion.

“We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of our Alpha Aiden to his fated mate Celine Moonlight, in honor of the prophecy that was passed years ago and to secure the future of the pack. “The elder said, and I rolled my eyes.
That was all they cared about. Themselves. If it wasn’t for the prophecy, they would never allow Aiden to marry me. I’m just a sacrificial lamb to them. They just needed me to marry Aiden to avoid the wrath of the goddess. Whatever happened after that? They didn’t give a hoot.

“Is there anyone here who has a reason why this union shouldn’t be? “He then questioned, and that was my cue

Gasp filled the room and everyone turned to look at me in confusion but I didn’t mind.
“What are you doing, you wretch? “Aiden questioned as he grabbed my arm while trying to pin me down, but I yanked my arm free as I stood up. I dusted the wrinkles off my dress and stepped forward.

You want me to be the good little girl I’ve always been, do as I’m told, marry Aiden and then whatever happens to me after that is my cross to carry? “I questioned as I peeked to look at the other elders, and they turned their gaze away from me.
“You think I don’t know what is going on? You all know that Aiden doesn’t respect me. You know he can’t stand me, yet you want me to marry him. All of you know that he wants Carla to be his Luna and for the sake of the pack you just want me to be a placeholder even though I would be completely miserable! “I continued as I turned my attention to the crowd and just then Aiden stood up

“For the past years, you all treated me like crap and hurt me at every chance you got, and you think I will sacrifice myself for you all? You never even considered me a part of your selfish pack to begin with, so no! I will not sacrifice myself to save your selfish asses! I will not get married to Aiden, and I will watch with a joyful heart how the goddess chooses to punish you all for the sins you have committed! “I continued as I faced the crowd and suddenly.
