Chapter 7
Chapter 7
I stood in the middle of my room, staring blankly at my reflection. I was in a red dress and my hair was seemed distant and stressed as they stared back at me, and that was because I was stressed.
s up in a bun. My eyes
Today marked my third day back in the past, and I still hadn’t figured out how Carla has been poisoning me. At this rate, I may never be able to stop her, and I may never attain my full potential. What step do I take?
I began to pace about in the room in worry and deep thought, when suddenly there was a knock on my door.
“Yes? “I called, and a maid’s voice replied.
“Good morning, my lady. Fruits? “She spoke, and I froze.
I never asked for fruits.
“Come in…” I replied, and the maid came in. She’s the same Burnett who came to give me soup yesterday. I stared at her as she placed the tray of apples, grapes, and other fruits on my bed, and a chain of memories hit me. Small fragments of her serving me one meal or the other at many intervals,
In my past life, she was always there too. Ever since I moved into the palace, I always saw her once every day. She was always bringing me food I never asked for and serving me in private. I never saw it as a big deal. Until now.
“I never asked for fruits. “I stated, and she smiled at me as she straightened up.
“My job is to ensure your comfort, my lady. Hence, I bring you snacks and fruits at intervals to ensure you are well–fed and healthy. Plus, you haven’t left your room in a while. “She explained, and I smiled back at her. Something still didn’t seem right
“That’s very considerate of you. “I said as I walked over to my bed and sat.
*Care to join me! I then questioned, and I watched her eyes widen.
“… I can’t, my lady. I’m just a maid. What business do I have dining with royalty? “She said, and I scoffed as I swung my hand dismissively.
“Oh, I’m no royal. I’m only an omega, remember? “I replied, and I watched her closely as she began to fidget.
“Still, you are Alpha Aiden’s mate. You are our fated Luna. You’re a person of power. I’m no one beside you. “She said, and I eyed her as she spoke.
If she’s who Carla has been using to poison me, it wouldn’t be wise of me to raise any suspicions.
“Alright, then. It’s okay. But the next time I ask you to eat with me, I won’t take any excuses. “I noted and she smiled sheepishly
at me.
Right in front of her, I grabbed an apple and took a bite. As I began to chew, she bowed.
“I should take my leave now…. “She said, and I simply nodded.
Once she was out, I rushed to the bathroom and spat out the apple. The best way to go about this is to make them think I’m still getting poisoned.
I then looked for a box, emptied all the fruits into it, and pushed it under my bed. I’d get rid of them when I can. If this is how Carla has been poisoning me, it simply means I have gotten over one obstacle now. The next will be to train until I attain my full potential.
I am an Alpha breed. My father was the sixth son and Alpha in a different region, and my mother was the only daughter of another Alpha. I have their genes. The gene of Alphas. If I train hard enough, even Aiden will not be able to challenge me, but first, I need to heal.

Chapter 7
Aiden paced about in his room in a silent symphony of frustration and anger. The echoes of his every step were drowned out by the emotions that swirled in his heart and mind.
He had his hands on his hips as he walked back and forth, and he only came back to earth when Carla barged into his room.
“What’s on your mind. Aiden?” She spoke softly as she walked up to him, and he sat on the edge of his bed.
Despite how gentle she tried to make her voice, there was irritation bubbling under it because she knew What was on his mind… what he was thinking about.. who he was thinking about
Celine.
Aiden’s eyes briefly met Carla’s, and her heart skipped a beat when she saw the storm of conflicted emotions that swam about freely in his deep, green eye. It was something that never used to be
Aiden was frigid. He felt nothing. She had made sure of that. For years, she dedicated her life to making him a beast who only had a soft spot for her.
And now…
was strained with a mixture of concern and confusion, and
Celine,” He muttered, and Carla’s fears were confirmed. His voice wa this irritated her further.
“I can’t seem to understand her, Carla. Her recent behavior it troubles me. What if it affects the pack? What if it leads to discord among the people?
There’s something different about her… This isn’t like her. She’s never gone against me before. “Aiden continued, and Carla’s eyes narrowed imperceptibly. Her fists clenched as she watched Aiden openly think and worry about Celine. It enraged her.
“She’s just a maid, Aiden, “She began but stopped as she realized how hostile her tone was.
Brainwashing Aiden was an art she mastered for many years. And she had learned that the best way to get into his head was to be subtle… gentle… slithering into his thoughts like the serpent that she was.
“Her family is tainted with the blood of your parents. She’s not just a common omega. Aiden. She’s the daughter of the people who snatched your mother away and caused your father to die of heartbreak a year later
Furthermore, she is a reminder of a painful past and childhood you wish to forget. You must assert your dominance, Aiden. You need to show her where her place truly is.
She is a slave. An enemy. You have to avenge your parents. She has no right to a voice. She is yours. Yours to own. Yours to punish… Yours to break. She is the only way you can honor and avenge your late parents. “Carla continued, and she watched as Aiden balled his hands together in front of him. His elbows were on his knees and his fists were so tightly locked that his knuckles were turning white.
The venom laced in Carla’s words filled the room. Her words were a toxic concoction designed to seep into Aiden’s thoughts and distort his perception of Celine.
Aiden listened in silence, his jaw clenched and his fists balling up in silent fury.
“What do I do now! “He finally spoke, his voice tinged with a flicker of doubt.
“I never used to care about Celine. I never saw her. She was an item, not a person. But now… Now… she’s different. There’s something about her that.. that has changed. I can’t explain it. It makes me see her. It makes me wonder if this is right. “He continued, and Carla’s gaze hardened.
Dismay flashed across her eyes. This was the first sign that her hold on Aiden was beginning to weaken. She didn’t like it. She wouldn’t take it.
“Do not be deceived, Aiden, “She spoke with her voice in a chilling whisper
*She is doing all this to gain your attention. To gain your trust and your mercy.
You’re trying to avenge your parents. What makes you think she’s not out to avenge hers?
She is a threat, Aiden. A reminder of a past you must not forget. You must show her where she truly belongs, my love.

Remind her of her place. “Carla embroidered her
wordly on the veil of deception, and Aiden draped himself pertenly
in that veil.
As Carla’s words hung heavy in the air, a tense silence enveloped the room, and Aiden’s gaze drifted towards the window with his mind a tempest of conflicting emotions and unsettling thoughts,
Carla observed the turmoil waging in Aiden with a mix of satisfaction and victory. Her plan seemed to be working. However, a doubt lingered in the back of her mind.
She had always had Aiden’s mind as a chessboard she played and captured queens every time. But today was different. Difficult than usual.
Celine…. Celine was becoming an enigma, a force she feared she may no longer be able to control, and that uncertainty gnawed at the edges of her careful
ly constructed facade.
“We cannot allow her to rise to power, Aiden. That would be a bloody mistake. ”
