Chapter 10
On the weekend, Benjamin and I took his niece, Audrey Atkinson, to the amusement park.
As we were lining up for the carousel, a familiar voice came from not far
away.
looked up and was surprised to see Antonio, Kendall, and Blanche.
Though they were standing together, they seemed distant.
Unlike in my previous life, they didn’t look like a happy family at all.
Seeing I held Audrey tightly in my arms, Kendall instantly grew tense.
She looked upset somehow.
Blanche saw me, too. She said in a sharp voice, “What is it, Grace? You’re here having fun with your family?
“Then stop harassing Antonio and Kendall from now on. They’re my family.”
I frowned and was about to say something before Benjamin beat me to it. He said, his voice cold, “Be careful with your words.
“Audrey is my niece, and if you slander Grace again, you’ll pay the price.”
Blanche sneered, clearly not buying his word.
Just as she wanted to retort, Kendall suddenly broke free from her hand and walked over to me.
I saw mixed emotions in Kendall’s eyes, including a trace of pleading.

Then she suddenly apologized to me.
“Mom, come back…
“I know I was wrong. Please… I mean it…”
Her voice was trembling as her eyes turned red. It seemed as if she was the leading character of a tragic TV drama.
Her movements attracted a lot of onlookers, who started to whisper among themselves.
Some of them recognized Antonio though he was wearing a mask because his face was too familiar to them.
Antonio walked to me, too, and said anxiously, “Grace, come back, and I’ll divorce Blanche right away.
“You, me, and Kendall, let’s start over, OK?”
Blanche immediately questioned him, her voice grating, “What do you mean, Antonio? You begged me to marry you back then! Now you’re gonna dump me for her?”
He snapped, “Shut up! If it weren’t for your schemes, Grace and I wouldn’t have ended up like this at all!”
They started to accuse each other with harsh words, and the scene became chaotic for a time.
Meanwhile, Kendall was still kneeling, looking up at me with red eyes full of anticipation and pleading.
I waited for an apology till the day I died in my previous life.
It came too late. The pain I once felt was real and indelible.

Chapter 10
They hurt me and betrayed me again and again, and my affection for them was long gone.
I looked at her calmly, saying, “Kendall, don’t be like this.
“I no longer have anything to do with you or Antonio.
“You choose your own life. Don’t try to salvage anything by moral kidnapping.”
After saying this, I took Audrey’s hand and said to Benjamin, “Let’s go to another amusement park.” .
While Audrey was playing bumper cars, Benjamin and I rested on a bench.
He fell silent for a long time while turning around to observe my expression from time to time. Somehow, his actions reminded me of a pet dog, who was unfavored but sensible.
“Are you OK?” he asked.
Then I realized what he had in common with the neglected pet dog. He was curious, but for fear of being hated or even abandoned, he didn’t dare to ask me anything.
I told him about my past with Antonio briefly.
“So, Kendall is actually your daughter with Antonio?” he asked.
I nodded and continued, smiling bitterly, “Yeah, but Blanche raised her up, and she’s very hostile towards me.
“I tried to win her back before, but she chose to side with Blanche.
“And now, I don’t need them anymore.”

Benjamin leaned toward me and wrapped his arms around me. He said firmly, “Grace, you’re the most wonderful, tough woman I’ve ever seen.
“You deserve a better life. I wasn’t part of your life before, but from now on, I’ll be with you forever.”
Later, Kendall came to the studio to find me several times, trying to apologize and make amends.
But I never allowed the security to let her in.
Once harm was done, it could never be undone.
Kendall severed the bond between us long ago.
