Chapter 6
I had an early flight in the morning.
Ramona arranged the car for me.
After I talked to the driver, I put my phone down. Antonio grabbed my
wrist and questioned me with uneasiness in his eyes, “Why are you going to the airport?”
I said, “Ramona wants me to pick up someone. She says it’s someone important.”
He took my word for it.
Because I was always the secretary, assistant, and maid for his family. He was already used to it.

With disgust on his face, he said, “Remember to behave properly. Show some manners in case they realize you’re just a bumpkin from some village. Don’t embarrass me.
Noticing the cold look on my face, he changed the subject, saying, “I’ll book a restaurant for you to have lunch.
I said, “Ramona has got it all covered.”
Suddenly, he held me from behind tightly.

He said, “I bought a new wedding dress for you. You can wear it when we go take our wedding photos in a few days. And I got you a high–end wedding dress reserved, too. It’s for our wedding.”
Enduring the nausea, I said, “OK.”

Then I broke free with great force.
He looked at me, surprised.
I explained, “I gotta head off to the airport now.”
“I’ll wait for you at home,” he said.

After I arrived at the airport, I called him on video when I passed through security.
He was shocked.
Unfazed, I ended the call and sent an email to report him.
It seemed that after his so–called “amnesia“, he fell for me again.
But it was too late.
Belated love meant nothing.
At 8:20 a.m., I successfully boarded my flight to Speynia.
From now on, Antonio would be part of my past that meant nothing to
- me.
Seven years passed in the blink of an eye.
I walked out of the Breguadale Airport and took a cab to the CBD.
After I went abroad, I resumed my studies. I graduated from undergraduate school and then pursued a master’s in human resource management at a top university in Speynia.
By chance, I was recommended by my advisor and became an intern at Lightning Group.
After graduation, I continued to work at this world–famous international

headhunting firm.
I fought all the way up. After experiencing all kinds of obstacles, I won everyone’s recognition at the group’s headquarters in Speynia.
I was soon appointed by the group’s Chairman as the General Manager of the Draenia region. Now, I came back with the mission of establishing a studio so as to prepare for the group’s branch company here.
I was entitled to hold additional shares and receive future dividends.
All those unpleasant memories from my past turned out to be appetizers for my wonderful future life.
After making a clean break with Antonio, and the others, I embraced a great, carefree life, and it felt so great.
Suddenly, my phone rang.
It was a WhatsApp message from Benjamin Woolery.
He texted me, “Ms. Parrish, have you gotten into the car yet?
“I’ve finished decorating the studio and am about to order the office facilities and equipment.
“Sorry that I can’t come to pick you up. But you’ll see the finished studio once you get here. I’ll be waiting.”
I texted him back, “OK.”
Benjamin was my client. We met in Speynia, and he specialized in new
energy.
I negotiated with him for almost half a month before he finally agreed to be my client.

Five of my colleagues had tried, and they all swore Benjamin was impossible. To everyone’s surprise, I managed to secure a deal with him.
As soon as he heard I was going back to Draenia, he insisted on investing together with me to establish a studio, though the business here was totally unrelated to new energy.
He said he believed in my abilities to earn money and claimed that it was
his investment in me.

The elevator arrived at the nineteenth floor.
As the doors opened, I saw his tall figure outside the elevator.
With a big smile, he said, “It’s been a while, Ms. Parrish.
“Welcome to your studio.”
Before I could walk up to him or say anything, someone suddenly grabbed my wrist and yanked me aside.
In the next second, a familiar voice rang out, making me stunned.
“Grace? It’s really you.
“You’re finally back.”
I looked up, only to see Antonio’s cold, striking features.
