Seeing Justin like this, a wave of insecurity washed over Candice as panic flickered in her gaze. She clung to him and said with false innocence, “Wasn’t that Serena just now? Being pretty must have its perks. It’s one thing for Mr. Quade to back her up, but now it looks like she’s got herself a new admirer, too.”
When Justin made no reply, Candice gripped his hand and asked, “Are you alright, Justin?”
“I’m fine. We should get out of the car,” he said hoarsely.
Candice obediently stepped out of the vehicle and entered the boutique with him. Monique approached them and asked, “Now there’s a surprising face. What brings you here today, Mr. Farrow?”
“My girlfriend needs a new dress,” Justin said as he nudged Candice forward.
Monique appraised Candice briefly before dishing out a few compliments. After that, she led the latter to the private fitting room. The boutique housed several large private fitting rooms, each manned by a small team of attendants.
Justin did not follow Candice and Monique into the fitting room. Instead, he threw a dark look at Shawn.
Shawn had a sexy, young model on his arm, carrying several large paper bags weighed down with clothes. Spotting Justin, he said casually, “Mr. Farrow, fancy running into you here.”
Justin reached out to block Shawn’s way. “What’s going on between you and Serena?”
Shawn snorted. “Nothing. I thought she looked pretty and wanted to get to know her better. Is that wrong?”
“Stay away from her,” Justin growled in warning.
“Aren’t you a funny one, Mr. Farrow? Who gave you the right to question me about such things? Does Serena belong to you and no one else?” Shawn taunted. “Is she not a free woman now that she’s left Farrow Corporation?”
“If you so much as lay a finger on her, you’re dead!” Justin snarled.
“Challenge accepted, big guy,” Shawn said, his eyes gleaming maniacally. “Let’s see which of us ends up dead first!”
“Justin…” A soft, feminine voice rang out behind Justin. Candice, staring at him from the fitting room, held up a white cocktail dress, her eyes gleaming with anticipation.
Shawn scoffed at this and pointed out, “Your girlfriend’s here, too, Mr. Farrow. I suggest you stay in line. Greed doesn’t become you.”
With that, he wrapped an arm around the model, chuckling as he left.
Candice stepped forward and clutched Justin’s arm. “Who was that, Justin? What were you guys talking about?”
“Nothing,” Justin answered, pulling his arm free. “Aren’t you supposed to be picking out a dress? Go back into the fitting room.”
He was not the most enthusiastic audience. Candice had tried on dress after dress, but he was glued to his phone and only spared her a cursory glance every once in a while.
Candice bit her lip when she saw how distant he was. Her gaze darkened as she turned to address the attendants in the room. “Could you give me some privacy? I can try these dresses on myself.”
When the attendants were gone, she picked out a lacy dress and stepped through the heavy drapes. “Justin, could you help me with the zipper? I can’t quite manage to pull it up.”

Only then did Justin keep his phone in his pocket and walk toward Candice. The moment he lifted the drapes, Candice blushed.
She was wearing a backless white dress and had deliberately forgone her bra, revealing the full curve of her bosom. The back zipper was undone, exposing her flawless back.
Candice had expected some sort of reaction from Justin, but indifference hadn’t been one of them. He casually zipped up her dress and turned to leave the fitting room. He didn’t even give her a second glance.
She clenched her fists at his dismissive attitude. Gfitting her teeth, she walked out in the dress and said, “Justin, look at me ”
