Chapter 56
Wilson asked, “Did she not come downstairs?”
Justin answered, “No.”
Hearing this, Wilson’s expression shifted a little. He had waited upstairs for a while, but Serena never showed up, and she wasn’t
answering her phone. Thinking she might have gone downstairs first, he headed down, only to find no sign of her there either.
Justin sensed that something was wrong and quickly stepped forward. “Where did you take Serena?”
Wilson ignored him and made a call. Then, he summoned the hall manager. “I’m looking for someone important. Get me all the
security footage after 8:40 pm tonight.‘
The manager looked troubled. “Mr. Quade, this is Mr. Cohen’s property. I’m afraid-
“I’ve talked to him. Call him to confirm if you don’t believe me, but before that, please let me access your control room.” Despite
sounding cool, Wilson came across as authoritative. “Please lead the way.”
“Sure.”
Wilson followed the n
manager to the control room. At the same time, he sent his men to search the hall.
Justin, realizing the gravity of the situation, followed him.
“Serena’s missing?”
“Isn’t that obvious?”
Hearing this, Justin exploded. “Wilson, if anything happens to Serena, I won’t let you off!”
Wilson turned to him. “That’s interesting. What right do you have to question me? Former boss?”
“Serena belongs to me!”
“Yeah, sure.” Wilson flicked the ash off his cigarette, his expression growing impatient. “Maybe get your head checked first.”
“You son of a—”
Justin lunged forward but was stopped by someone. Jacob had stood between them. He advised Justin, “Justin, now’s not the time
to quarrel. The priority is finding Serena.”
He then turned to Wilson. “Wilson, was anyone else with Serena when she went to the second–floor restroom?”
Wilson frowned. “No.”
At that moment, Justin paused. He revealed, “Candice also went to the second–floor restroom earlier.”
He immediately called Candice, and she picked up very quickly.

Candice’s voice sounded cheerful. “Justin, are you finally willing to talk to me?”
Justin tried to get his temper under control. “When you went to the second floor, did you happen to run into Serena?”
Candice’s mood tanked instantly as if he had poured cold water over her head. She clenched her fist tightly on her knees as she
tried to sound normal.
“I did. I headed into the restroom just as she was coming out. Why?”
“Did you notice anything unusual?”
I went to the restroom and left later. By the time I left, she was already gone. Justin, what’s going on? Has Serena gone missing?”
Candice’s voice sounded genuinely puzzled.
Justin pinched his forehead, seemingly troubled. “I need to handle some matters here. We’ll talk later.”
With that, he ended the call. Candice slowly lowered her phone, her expression calm, though jealousy and hatred were boiling in
her chest.
She thought, “It would be better if Serena disappeared for good.”
Wilson watched the footage in the control room–Serena had followed him to the second floor, but they split up after that. No
cameras covered the restroom area–they couldn’t know what happened there.
What was certain was that Serena never came back after going to the restroom. Only Candice was seen exiting alone.
Wilson narrowed his eyes. “Your girlfriend is probably not telling the truth.”
Justin’s expression darkened. “Candice wouldn’t hurt Serena.”
“She didn’t lay a hand on her, sure. But are you certain she didn’t see or hear anything?”
“She said no.”
“And you believe her?” Wilson stubbed out his cigarette and walked out.
The event hall was massive, spanning three floors with over a hundred rooms.
