Chapter 60
The room was dimly lit, and the floor was in–complete disarray. On the large bed in the center of the room, Shawn pinned Serena
down with one hand grabbing her head and the other tearing the fabric off her body.
Wilson’s expression changed drastically, and an air of brutal hostility enveloped him. Jacob, too, was stunned.
“Kayden, stay outside the door with them!” Jacob ordered before swiftly shutting the door.
Shawn’s countenance turned grim as he slowly loosened his grips. In the face of absolute disadvantage, one often gained clarity
and remained calm.
He pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and hung it over his lips. “You got here early, Uncle Wilson. Had you arrived just a little later, I
could’ve bedded her. You know, you should’ve-
Wilson strode forward and delivered a punch to his face. Then, he picked up the fallen cigarette and pressed the butt against his
arm.
A painful scream escaped Shawn’s lips.
After tossing him aside, Wilson removed his coat as he walked toward Serena and draped it over her. His voice came out rather
shaky as he inched closer to her. “Serena.”
Her gaze was somewhat dazed. After she saw who was standing before her, tears rolled down from her eyes. “Mr. Quade…”
Her voice trembled as she clung to his collar, like a drowning person grasping onto their last lifeline.
“You’re safe now.” Wilson pulled Serena into his embrace, his words laced with gentleness and comfort.
She gritted her teeth, uttering, “Shawn… did…”
“I know.”
When Serena had calmed down a little, he finally pulled over a blanket and draped it over her. “Don’t worry. I’ll make him pay.
Now, close your eyes.”
She knew what Wilson wanted to do and obediently closed her eyes while covering her ears. He slowly rose to his feet, his gaze
zeroing in on the collapsed Shawn.
Shawn’s gaze flickered for a moment. Then, he forced a smile, one that was tinged with despair. “What are you gonna do, Uncle
Wilson? Kill me?”
Wilson took a few steps forward and lifted Shawn off his feet without hesitation. However, the latter suddenly went berserk.
Seizing Wilson’s momentary distraction, he grabbed the ashtray from the floor and hurled it at him.
However, Wilson didn’t miss a beat. He perceptively caught Shawn’s wrist and twisted it violently, prompting another
excruciating wail from him and causing him a fractured bone.

He then grabbed Shawn’s hair and slammed his head against the glass table. After several blows, the sturdy glass table cracked, a
chunk of it shattered from the impact.
Wilson continued his action without batting an eye. At last, the tempered glass table shattered into pieces with a piercing crash.
Shawn lay on the ground, his face covered in blood, trembling like a devoured prey.
At that moment, Jacob came to stop Wilson. “Enough, Wilson. You’re gonna kill him. Take Serena to the hospital, and I’ll handle
the matter here.”
It was only then Wilson withdrew his attacks. He wiped his fingers clean and waited for the bloodlust in his eyes to dissipate
before approaching the person on the bed.
Serena curled up under the blanket, her eyes tightly shut. She didn’t know what was happening outside, but she could guess Shawn had been severely injured.
Wilson wrapped her in his arms, pulling her close. A strong metallic smell of blood hit her, and she couldn’t bring herself to open her eyes.
Her hands gripped the fabric on his chest, trembling. His crisp, cold scent of woody cologne lingered around her, grounding her,
and gradually calming the panic that had gripped her heart.
