Wilson was ready to carry Serena inside the hospital but was rejected by her. “I can walk by myself, Mr. Quade.”
Despite her disheveled appearance, her tone was extremely calm–a total contrast to the fragile and frightened woman in the car.
Wilson paused. “Your clothes aren’t in the best shape. Let me carry you.”
He didn’t give her a chance to turn him down. After taking her to a VIP ward, he made a phone call. Before long, Willow arrived.

“I’ll step out for now and have Willow accompany you. Call me if you need anything,” said Wilson.
Serena’s peaceful voice echoed in the ward. “Thank you, Mr. Quade.”
“Recovering is the best way you can thank me now.”
With that, he turned and left.
As soon as the door closed, he massaged his temples.
Serena was strong, perhaps a little too strong to the point where it concerned him. He wished she would open up and be
vulnerable with him, yet she closed herself off like a clam, concealing her weakest side.
Of course, she had shown her deepest wounds before, not to him, but to Justin. But what did she get in return? Nothing but hurt.
“I guess it’d be hard for her to open up again,” Wilson mused.
“Mr. Quade, Mr. Smith is calling.” Sebastian passed the phone over.
Wilson grabbed the phone and headed toward the exit. “Is everything done?”
“Yes. After you left, Justin went in and gave Shawn another round of beating. Had we not stopped him in time, he would’ve killed
him.”
His eyes narrowed. “Wouldn’t that be better? That way, he can take the blame for the murder, and I can eliminate two scums at
A sigh came from Sebastian’s end of the line. “Bad mood?”
“Why don’t you ask me that again when you see the woman you like experiencing that kind of humiliation?”
“How do you plan to deal with Shawn? I’ve called a private doctor over. After all, we have to keep him alive.”
Sebastian’s voice then turned solemn. “With this incident, I believe the Jenkinses and Simon will come after you. You should be
prepared.”
“Prepare for what exactly?” Wilson scoffed. “Perhaps I should mentally prepare them that their precious son will finally receive
the consequences he deserves.”

Inside the ward, Willow fixed Serena’s hair as she cursed, “That son of a bitch! How did the Quade family raise a scumbag like
Shawn?”
She felt terrible for Serena. “But don’t worry, Will is going to give him a taste of his medicine. It definitely won’t happen again.”
Serena merely grunted in response. Then, she turned her head and asked, “It’s late. Why are you still at the hospital? Did Mr.
Quade make you come over?”
“No, I asked for a night shift today.” Willow broke into a sheepish smile. “My parents wanted me to attend a charity gala tonight so I could meet my blind date. I didn’t want to go, so here I am.”
“And here you are, right now, with me. I guess we’re quite fated to meet,” said Serena.
“I don’t want any fated meetings at the hospital. It’s a bad sign.” Willow held her hand. “Hey, Serena? When I heard about what happened from Jake, I thought you’d come here, all broken down or something. I even contemplated how I should make you feel. better, yet you turned out to be so calm.”
“You’re making it sound like a bigger deal than it is. Look, I’m perfectly fine.” Serena forced a smile.
Did she break down? She did. In fact, she was also terrorized with despair at that desperate moment..
However, now that she had been saved, she naturally had to recover and not create more trouble for others.
Soon, several doctors arrived, helped her change into a hospital gown, and conducted a thorough examination. It was confirmed that she had multiple soft tissue contusions and a mild concussion.
