Chapter 63
With the report in hand, Willow was ready to seek Wilson when she saw him approaching from the opposite direction with a
shopping bag.
He immediately asked, “How’s she?”
“This is the result. You can take a look. Luckily, she didn’t suffer any bone fractures. Otherwise, it will be a tedious process.”
Wilson took the report and perused it, slowly relaxing his heavy heart.
Noticing the shopping bag, Willow asked, “What did you buy, Will? Women’s clothes?”
“Yeah.”
“Wow. I can’t believe you’ve picked out clothes for a woman.” She teased, “Hey, we’ve known each other for quite some time.
Why have you never bought me clothes?”
Wilson cast her a sidelong glance. “Why would I do that for you?”
“Okay! As if I’d be into your fashion taste!” She stuck her tongue out at him.
Just as she prepared to leave, a nurse frantically called out for her. “Dr. Quade, a patient just came in. Car accident and leg injury.
Please come and take a look!”
Willow worked in the Orthopedics Department, so she had to go. She turned and told Wilson, “I’ll see you around, Will. Talk
later!”
“Sure.”
Once she left, Wilson carried the bag and entered Serena’s ward. She was lying on the bed and staring dazedly at the ceiling, her
thoughts unknown.
He approached her and suddenly waved two fingers before her eyes. “How many fingers am I holding up, Ms. Judd?”
Serena turned to him. “What are you doing, Mr. Quade?”
“An examination.”
“Two…”
“Great. The doctor said you have mild concussions. I was worried until I confirmed your brain is working just fine. I guess I won’t have to hire a new personal assistant.”
Serena burst into a chuckle. The corner of her lips was slightly bruised, and she frowned as the pain hit.
Wilson’s eyes flickered. He had the urge to touch the corner of her lips but eventually held back. “Alright, I won’t disturb your
rest. Just focus on your recovery. You’ll be granted two weeks of leave.”

“Two weeks?”
“Of paid leave. So, don’t worry. I’m not that stingy.”
She was somewhat startled, softly asking, “Mr. Quade, don’t you think… you’re being too nice to me?”
A teasing expression appeared on his handsome face. “What? Are you that touched and surprised to meet a conscientious capitalist like me?”
He withdrew his smile and stated, “Shawn is my nephew, and he’s considered one of the Quades. Therefore, I should handle the matters of your compensation.”
Serena was shocked, “I thought his last name was Jenkins.”
“He took his mother’s last name. His parents divorced.” Wilson fished out a cigarette, but when he realized he was in a ward, he only toyed with it between his fingers.
“You should stay here tonight for further observation. We’ll talk again tomorrow.” He rose to his feet. “Rest well.”
“Alright.”
After Wilson’s departure, the room suddenly felt empty. Serena clutched her blanket, reluctant to see him go. However, she thought this was natural, as humans would often want company at vulnerable moments.
Helplessness and loneliness hit her all at once, and she couldn’t control the flood of memories from her childhood.
She used to sleep alone in the dim nanny’s room. Afraid of the dark and missing her parents, she would secretly cry under the blanket.
Now, she felt a sudden urge to cry again.
At that moment, a nurse walked in with a gentle smile. “Hello, Ms. Judd. I’ve been instructed by Mr. Quade to keep you company tonight. Feel free to call me if you need anything.”

Serena was taken aback before breaking into an earnest smile. “Got
