Chapter 15
Harper.
My gaze remained on Damon as he exchanged glances with his sister, I could tell they were shocked and at the same time confused about my decision, just this morning I still made it clear to them that I wasn’t interested in whatever they had to
offer.
“What changed?!” Daphne asked, I relunctantly lifted my gaze from Damon and turned to her, I held my bag up to my shoulder and fully turned to look at her, with my hands folded across my chest.
“I might want to get revenge, but I don’t want to spend my lifetime doing that,” I muttered in reply, she nodded slowly
whispering something that I barely heard, I slowly turned back to look at Damon but his gaze was still on me, I raised my eyes at him tilting my head to the side, he swallowed hard and slowly looked away from me,
“Do you really want to do this?! We loathe your family so much,” he said, I scoffed as a small wry smile tugged at the corner of my lips,
“Which is why you’re perfect for my plan,” I whispered in reply, they both stared at me quietly, I could barely read their expressions and I took their silence as them wanting me to go on.
“What’s your plan?” They asked simultaneously and my lips stretched into a small smile, Twin telepathy at work I see, they exchanged glances and they slowly turned back to look at me.
“Ofcourse I’ll let you know, once you agree that you’re ruining my mother and sister not the company my father has built!“, I said staring intently at the both of them for them waiting for the slightest change in their facial Expression.
Damon chuckled lightly as he dropped the bag he was holding on the bed and walked towards me, his lips stretched into a small smile as he held my gaze, his eyes searching mine, I held my face in a straight gaze but cowered at the intensity of his gaze and I slowly took my gaze off me.
“I don’t know if you know this, but because of this company that your father built, our lives were ruined, so yes our goal is to ruin it!” He said, I scoffed taking a step backwards and I slowly looked up at him.
“My goal is to take over the company, yours is to ruin it, that makes us Enemies then, I guess,” I said slowly unfolded my hands from my chest and looked up at him again, he hadn’t stopped smiling and I knew in my heart that it was a teasing smile.
“I’ll go ahead, Congratulations on your discharge,” I said and with that I turned around and began to walk out of the room, I really should have just done things my own way, but still this was the only way of getting closer to him.
He would make my mission faster and I really want to know every single thing about him, I can’t help but be interested in why he happened to be the one who helped me in my previous life, he must have something to do with me, that I’m sure of!
“But Plans are dynamic and can morph depending on the situation,” I heard him say just as soon as I placed my hands on the door knob, I paused and slowly turned to look at him, his smile had grown wider.
“Right Daphne?!” He added turning to his sister and she nodded stiffly.
“Your family would pay for their wrong and you’ll get what you want!” He finally said.
“I don’t believe you!” I replied calmly, he chuckled lightly and shook his head slowly, he dipped his hands into his pocket and took out his wallet, he opened it up and walked up to me stretching out his business card.
“I don’t have to convince you, Let’s talk about this more formally when you’re ready,” he said, I looked down at his hands and slowly took the card from him, I slowly looked back up at his face, he flashed me a short and exaggerated smile, without saying a word, I turned around and finally walked out of the room, closing the door with a soft thud.

I released a deep breath I had no idea I was holding as I walked out of the room, my grip on my bag thightened as I made my way downstairs.
My phone began to ring, I paused and slowly raised it up, I dipped my hands into my bag and slowly took at my face, I slowly looked at who it was calling and it was my mother, I rolled my eyes to the back of my head as I took it out and swiped on the
receiver button,
“We will be having another introduction with Novan’s parents this weekend, makesure you’re there and behave yourself!” She said sharply immediately I answered the call, I scoffed shaking my head slowly, don’t this people ever take no for an answer.
“Are you deaf! Didn’t you just hear what I said?!” She yelled aggressively at my silence,
“I could ask you the same!” I finally spoke up, my voice coming out soft and smooth, my grip on my phone thightened as I began to take slow steps out of the hallway and into the elevator.
“Because I remember making it clear that I’m not interested in any marriage, I’m getting dizzy from the repetition!” I muttered, I gently pressed on the elevator, I took a long stride forward and got in, before she could say anything in reply, I removed the phone from my ear and ended the call, I raised my hands to the crook of my elbows and folded my hands around my chest.
A part of me was getting scared from my mother’s insistence, I have never defied her orders like this ever in my life and the fact that she was insisting on this particular marriage is sort of scaring and intriguing me at the same time.
And something I’ve come to realize is that nothing in my past life happened to me by chance, it was a result of my mother’s well thought of and crafted plans.
The elevator door dinged and slowly went open, with another long stride I stepped out and finally walked out of the hospital, Collin was waiting for me downstairs, his hands folded across his chest leaning on the car.
“How did it go?!” He asked as I approached him, I locked gaze with him and nodded slowly, but then I realized that he wasn’t looking at me anymore, I slowly followed his gaze and turned around to see Daphne and Damon stepping out of the hospital, Daphne had his small duffel shoulder bag strapped against her shoulder and her elbow entwined around Damon’s in support
as the walked out.
She must have felt his burning gaze on her because she slowly turned to him, a guy who appeared to be their driver walked up to them and took the Bach from her. Daphne momentarily stopped walking and locked gazes with Collin, I looked between the both of them and then slowly at Damon, he seemed surprised at the intense staring that was going on with Daphne and Collin but he still had this look of being pleased by it.
I cleared my throat immediately and elbowed Collin slightly, he flinched slightly and relunctantly took his gaze off her and
turned to me clearing his throat nervously,
“I’m sorry,” he said but his voice came out hoarse and he cleared his throat immediately, turning back to Daphne she had already walked away with Damon.
“Let’s go,” I whispered to him, he swallowed hard and nodded slowly, he kept on clearing his throat as he turned around and got into the car, I could not help but chuckle as I reached for the car and got in also.
“They agreed to not ruin the company, I’ll still have to speak to Damon, Book me an appointment for tomorrow,” I said breaking the silence in the car, I didn’t get any response from him and I slowly turned to look at him,
“Collin??”
“What is she like?” he finally asked turning to look at me, I raised my brows at him immediately tilting my head to the side,
“Really?? Have you even being listening to me?!”
“She looks even more beautiful in person than in pictures,” he said finally confirming that I was actually speaking to myself, it is an obvious love at first sight, or crush at first sight, whatever it is.

“Love at first sight is a Fallacy,” I muttered
“Love in itself is an act of delusion!” I added and he slowly turned to look at me.
“What? Why would you say that?” He said turning to me and finally getting off his fantasy land.
I slowly looked away from him and relaxed in my seat staring at the road ahead of me, of what use is it explaining anything
to anyone when nobody really was going to understand.
I have watched people that I love unconditionally and that claim to love me also mess me up bad, the picture of my mother choosing the company at the expense of my death would not stop plaguing my memories, if love cannot exist between a mother and her child, how then can love exist between two strangers. 1
The rest of the ride home was quiet with the both of us busy with our thoughts but I could easily guess the thought going through Collin’s head with the tiny cheesy smile on his face like a child who had just been given candy.
He slowly came to park in front of my house, I inhaled deeply and blew a raspberry as I exhaled, having control over my own life life was a handful but I definitely wouldn’t change it for anything.
“You seem like you could use an unpaid therapist, you know that you can talk to me right?!” He whispered turning to me, I
stared at his face as he spoke, he no longer at the look of a teenager in love, it had been replaced by a look of worry.
Through this past week of my new life, Collin has been the closest thing to family I had, he had always looked after me, with
the two year age gap between us he could easily pass for my older brother.
My lips stretched into a small smile and I nodded slowly,
“I know,” I said my voice barely above a whisper, my own life issues was peculiar and even if I were to say anything to anyone where would I start from, who exactly would believe me, when even me did not understand how or why it happened, it was quite better to just keep it all in than to explain.
“Thank you Collin,” I whispered again like I always do every night before stepping out of the car.
