Chapter 7
Cyril’s POV
“I will,” Digby answered in tears.
Shirley glanced at me from across the room, where I was being held back by security. Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around Digby’s neck and kissed him passionately in front of everyone.
The crowd erupted into cheers and applause, the noise almost deafening. Cameras clicked wildly, and the flashing lights nearly lit up the entire hall. The atmosphere in the stock exchange soared to its peak, celebrating Shirley’s public proposal.
She nestled into Digby’s embrace, a radiant smile plastered on her face as if she’d just conquered the world.
Then, someone noticed me.
“Isn’t that Miss Davison’s ex–boyfriend? What the hell is he doing here?” A sharp voice sliced through the celebration, bringing an abrupt hush over the crowd.
Suddenly, all eyes were on me. Their stares burned into my skin as if I were some filthy secret dragged into the light. Even Shirley and Digby turned to look at me, feigning surprise. Digby’s eyes glimmered with triumph, while Shirley’s face twisted into a sneer.
“No way. He still has the nerve to show up? I thought he was blacklisted from the industry,” someone whispered.
The murmurs grew louder, each word sharp and cutting.
“I heard he slept his way to the top, so Miss Davison dumped him. And now he’s crawling back for another chance?”
“Disgusting. Didn’t he get caught going into hotels with multiple women? And he still dares to show his face here? Pathetic.”
Someone outright yelled, their disgust echoing through the hall.
Shirley watched the scene unfold, the corner of her mouth curling into a cold smile. She then gently pulled away from Digby and made her way toward me.
“Cyril,” she said, her voice dripping with disappointment. “How dare you show up here? I gave you a chance to redeem yourself, but you refused to change. Now you’ve brought this humiliation upon yourself.”
I met her gaze, silent and cold.
But she took my silence as guilt and pressed on, her tone growing more self–righteous with every word.
“Everyone, I know there have been misunderstandings about him, but I need to set the record straight. Yes, Cyril was once my fiancé, but he abused his position, engaging in inappropriate relationships with multiple clients. He even sold his body for business deals. I tried countless times to guide him back to the right path, but he refused to change. In the end, I had no choice but to break off our engagement.”

Gasps rippled through the crowd.
“Oh my god, poor Miss Davison! She was deceived by that scumbag for so long.”

“She deserves so much better. Imagine wasting years of her life on someone like him.” Her words painted her as the victim, and the crowd lapped it up, their sympathy fueling their disdain for me. As a result, insults rained down, drowning me in a sea of contempt. Digby stepped forward then, wrapping his arm around Shirley’s waist, a clear display of possession.
“Shirley, don’t waste another moment thinking about him,” he said softly, just loud enough for everyone to hear. “He’s not worth it. You have me now. I’ll stand by your side, always.” She nodded, her eyes brimming with affection as she gazed up at him.
“Digby, thank you. With you, I finally understand what true happiness is.”
They looked at each other as if the world around them had vanished, leaving only the two of them. As if I didn’t even exist.
Suddenly, a group of influencers whipped out their phones and started livestreaming.

“Look, everyone! This is Cyril – the man who slept his way up the corporate ladder. Can you believe he actually had the audacity to show up at Miss Davison’s big event? Shameless!”
The livestream chat exploded.
[Wait, that’s him? Damn, he looks good, but who knew he was such a dirtbag? Doesn’t he worry about catching diseases with all that sleeping around?]
[Ew, he hooked up with so many clients. Makes me wanna puke.]
