Chapter 2
I could handle Nadya splashing me with one cup of saline. But soaking in it? That was no different than dying.
I screamed, feeling like my soul was being ripped out of my body.
But I refused to give up any chance to survive.
Stumbling, I dragged myself to the door and pounded on the iron gate.
“Help me!”

The bodyguard outside got annoved. He kicked the door hard.

“Shut up! Stop yelling! If you piss off Mr. Swinton again, you really won’t live much longer!
“Thought you were his beloved sister, huh? A vicious snake like you, always bullying Nadya–better off dead.”
I swallowed the blood rising in my throat and gritted my teeth.
“There’s saline in here! Less than 30 minutes and I’ll be in agony! If you don’t wanna get dragged into this, send me to the hospital!”
He yelled for me to die, but he knew damn well–if I actually died, Ken and my parents wouldn’t spare him.
He hesitated, about to open the door, but after some thought, he decided to call Ken.
“Mr. Swinton, Ms. Swinton says there’s saline in the basement. She’s

covered in wounds and can’t soak in it. Should I take her to the hospital?”
Ken mumbled to himself, confused.
“That’s impossible. I filled it with a therapeutic soak for her wounds.”
He took a deep breath and suddenly spoke.
“Check if it’s actually salt…”
Just then, Nadya’s soft, pitiful voice came through.
“Ken, I prepared that water. Don’t you trust me?”
Seeing her in tears, Ken reassured her at once.
“Of course I trust you. Brietta is a liar. She doesn’t know what’s good for her. Ignore her!”
Ken hung up without hesitation. The bodyguard ignored my cries after
that.
The saline turned red with blood. My wounds started to swell and split
open.
I was barely holding on, feeling like I’d die the moment I closed my eyes.
But my will to live was strong. I didn’t want to die.
I forced myself to hang on until nightfall, occasionally shouting, hoping someone would hear me.
Finally, as my consciousness blurred, I heard footsteps outside.
I raised my voice, calling for help.
They heard me. The door opened, and the saline rushed out.

They shined a flashlight inside. As the beam hit my face, I recognized them.
It was Ken’s gang of scumbag friends!

They’d always followed Ken in spoiling Nadya, even bullying me behind his back just to make her laugh.
I was terrified of them. But I feared death more.
I begged them, desperate.
“P–please help me. I’m dying…”
Their eyes widened when they saw the nails all over my body.
“Who the hell did this to her?”
But soon, excitement lit up their faces.
“Don’t Ken and Nadya hate her? Won’t they love seeing her like this? Come on, let’s drag her to the yacht!”
Someone interrupted, frowning.
“She’s still Ken’s real sister. No matter how much he hates her, he wouldn’t want her like this. We should take her to the hospital first.”
Half of them agreed, but the others pushed back.
“Come on, no way. This is probably some stunt she pulled to get Ken’s sympathy. Let’s just take her now–the yacht’s leaving soon anyway!”
The ones who objected held more power. The others had no choice but to go along.
My throat felt like it was filled with blades–I couldn’t even make a sound.
