After a moment, Bianca suddenly laughed. “Rosy, are you seriously lying about cancer just to keep that tree? I know you went to the hospital the other day. The doctor’s a friend of mine. He said you’re perfectly fine.”
I didn’t respond and simply stared straight at Freddie.
Our eyes met. His expression suddenly turned cold.

Then he made a call to his secretary, Mason Smith. “Mason, send over two gardeners. I need a tree removed.”
After he ended the call, he looked at me again. There was a trace of disappointment in his icy gaze.
Freddie didn’t believe me.
In that moment, my heart plummeted to rock bottom and shattered completely.
I had thought countless times about how he would react if I told him I had cancer.
Would he panic and cry inconsolably? Would he treat me kindly as he once did? Would he postpone the wedding?
I was so afraid of burdening him, so I never dared to tell him the truth.
Yet, reality made one thing clear. I had overestimated how much I mattered to him.
Ever since that confession, I was nothing but a disgrace in his eyes. I had become someone who’d stoop to anything,
including lying about something like this.
Tears streamed down my face before I realized it.
A metallic taste flooded my throat. I suddenly felt a wave of nausea as I looked at them.
Fighting the sickness rising in my chest, I wiped my tears and expressionlessly tore the diagnosis slip into shreds.
It didn’t matter anymore. Freddie wouldn’t shed a single tear for me even if I died.
“Rosalie! What kind of tantrum are you throwing now?” He couldn’t stand the sight of me like this. He stood up suddenly,
fixing me with a cold glare.
I said nothing more. I just frantically covered my mouth and nose as I walked away.
