Chapter 10
It wasn’t long before the competition results were published. It absolutely floored everyone. I had clinched first place, while Zachary landed in second.
Those who had previously branded me a cheat and wished me ill instantly shifted their stance, now showering me with praise.
In a complete turn of events, Tina, formerly always in first place, was surprisingly dead last, with a score so abysmal that it left everyone stunned.
I held my scholarship and touched my injured arm as I arrived at the Johnson residence.
I then overheard a commotion from within the Johnson residence. Liam yelled, “Why, exactly, were you in my office the evening before the exam, Tina?”
Tina, however, remained silent, her eyes welled up with unshed tears. She then looked pleadingly at Karen and Henry, only to find that neither of them responded to her pleadings. It was clear that the Johnsons valued a brilliant daughter, not one who resorted to cheating.
In addition, given that they had reviewed the surveillance footage, they would naturally review the footage of her earlier fall down the stairs and the moment she slipped the cheat sheets under my desk.
Tina immediately burst into tears and blurted, “I knew it. You don’t really love me! It’s always been about Kiara for you guys. Why else wouldn’t you help me, then? Why would you even pull up the surveillance footage?”
Karen, with a heavy heart, said, “I have always loved you the most, Tina. I got you Kiara’s guaranteed university admission spot, didn’t I? I’ve already looked into all the hardships Kiara went through in the White family back in the countryside. I’ll see to it that she forgives you as long as you offer her a sincere apology, Tina.”
It was then that I walked in with a sneer and tossed the 60 thousand dollars in front of Henry. “I’ll never forgive cheating in a competition is no trivial matter.”
