Chapter 4
When Emilie arrived at the hospital, she had already lost consciousness. The doctor blamed Cindy for not being worthy of being a mother, for freezing the child like this.
Cindy did not defend herself, and she blamed herself just as much inside. She knew very well that Colt did not love Emilie, yet she let him take Emilie away.
It was indeed her fault.
“Dad, I want dad,” Emilie murmured to Colt, her face burning bright red.
“Mom, I also wanted Dad to hug me.”
“I would be obedient.”
Emilie had been crying all along, her tears wetting her hair, and Cindy felt extremely sorry for her.
At this moment, she was still thinking about Colt.
Cindy held her phone and eventually called Colt.
He didn’t answer.
“My daughter had a high fever, I hope you can come to the hospital and see her,” she sent him another message.
Colt did not return until dawn.
Hazel updated their Instagram with a photo of their family of three enjoying the night view.
Leaving Emilie behind, he had no trace of regret, even indifference, showing no concern or interest.
Cindy was completely disheartened and no longer had any hope for him. In his heart, Emilie was
never important, and she was even less important.
Cindy stayed up all night, and Emilie finally woke up.
“Mom, I’m sorry for making you worry,” Cindy’s thoughtfulness made her heart ache.
“Silly fool, there’s no need to apologize.” Cindy held back her tears, if anyone should apologize, it
was her to Emilie.
She couldn’t receive her father’s love. “Mom, don’t cry, I’m fine.”
,“Well, Mom, don’t cry.”
Cindy held Emilie and fed her medicine and food.

Emilie stayed in the hospital for three days, and on the day of her discharge, Colt finally replied to her message.

“Are you still at the hospital? I will come and pick you up.‘
Binille held her phone and saw a pop–up message, and she smiled happily.
“Mom, Uncle said he would come to pick us up.”
Emilie couldn’t help but feel a hint of anticipation when she learned that Colt was coming to pick
her up.
Cindy nodded and silently prayed that Colt wouldn’t stand her up.
Even if it was because of the guilt of leaving Emilie behind, I hope he could fulfill his promise once.
Time passed bit by bit, and Emilie’s smile gradually faded away. From morning till noon, she kept
staring at the door of the hospital room.
Cindy looked at the clock on the wall and then looked at Emilie.
Emilie felt her gaze and whispered, “Uncle isn’t coming, right?”
“Uncle must have been too busy to remember to pick me up, Mom. Let’s go,” Emilie deceived herself, pretending to smile as she jumped off the bed and took Cindy’s hand.
Cindy felt a pang in her heart and nodded. “Okay. Mom will take you home.”
Cindy led Emilie out of the ward and saw Colt at the elevator.
“It’s dad,” Emilie quickly corrected herself, “It’s uncle, uncle is here to pick us up.”
In the next moment, Hazel came out of the elevator.
Cindy held Emilie’s hand tightly, which Emilie wanted to let go.
Colt turned around and saw Cindy and Emilie. His eyebrows slightly furrowed, and he looked
somewhat uneasy.
“Is Allan okay?” Hazel looked at him, and he shook his head.
“It’s nothing, just a scratch,” Colt finally withdrew his gaze and didn’t look at them again.
Cindy knew that Colt did not come to pick them up. His eyes were only on Hazel and her son.
Even if she and Emilie had an accident, his heart wouldn’t stir a ripple.
Cindy couldn’t describe her feelings at that moment. She lowered her head and gently looked at
Emilie.
“Emilie.”
Emilie smiled at her and said, “Mom, let’s go home.”

They were silent all the way, and Emilie stared out of the window, sobbing.
Back at the villa, Emilie locked herself in her room.
Cindy did not argue with her, silently standing outside the door to accompany her.
