Orion squeezed past Harley and gripped my hand tightly. “Mommy, how are you feeling? Are you better?”
Still, I couldn’t help but worry, Orion was still so young, and I wondered if growing up with such a mindset would affect him.

I didn’t think Kieran and Orion’s actions were cruel. Everything that had happened was just Alaric and the others getting what they deserved.

I knew in my heart that he was an insecure man. So I held his hand tightly and nodded. firmly.
Seeing the bloodshot in Kieran’s eyes, my heart ached. He must not have slept all night.
I gently pulled Orion into my arms to comfort him, then shot Kieran a harsh glare.

After comforting Orion, I had Harley take him out, leaving me and Kieran alone.
My hand froze. I turned around and saw Alaric.
Technically, my injuries didn’t require a stay in the medical wing, but Kieran and Orion insisted they wouldn’t let me go home until I was fully recovered.

I was about to say something more to Harley when the door to the medical wing was suddenly pushed open. Kieran and Orion appeared at once.
Kieran stubbornly insisted on taking off my clothes to check my wound. He kissed my forehead, his face full of heartache, and whispered a promise, “My love, I swear. This will never happen again.”
Seeing Orion being so sweet and understanding, my heart melted.
“Liar.”
Knowing Kieran as I did, I was sure he had taken his anger out on Orion. After all, I had been injured protecting him.
