Chapter 2 I Shot Her
An hour later, Maryanne and Cristofer came out of the courthouse, cach holding a divorce certificate.
Latoya looked at the certificate in Cristofer’s hand with a big smile. She could finally be his wife for real.
She pretended to worry about Maryanne.
Maryanne looked different now. She hadn’t fallen apart over the divorce.
Why does she look so relaxed? Latoya wondered if she was seeing things.
“Maryanne, the Nielsen family doesn’t want you anymore, and you’re leaving with nothing. Where are you gonna go?“.
Maryanne was from the countryside. It was lucky for her to be connected with the Nielsen family. But that luck is gone now.
When the Nielsen family found out Maryanne was the wrong kid, they shipped her off to the countryside as a little girl and pretty much ignored her. She wasn’t brought back until she was eighteen, and that was when she met Cristofer.
Latoya was found two years ago and sent overseas to study, all to be a good match for Cristofer, who came from a rich family.
It wasn’t until Latoya came back for good that Maryanne learned the truth: the Nielsen family had found their real daughter and wanted nothing to do with her.

They never really raised her, so she didn’t care about being cut off.
She came back to track down her biological parents.
A few days ago, she overheard a friend of Cristofer talking and knew that Cristofer had fallen for the sweet and innocent Latoya at first sight while he was on a business trip abroad.
After Latoya came back, the two started dating right away.
Latoya would often send Maryanne pictures of them in bed to get under her skin and embarrass her.
She was being the other woman and acting like she could do whatever she wanted!
Maryanne glanced at Latoya coldly. “Don’t worry about me. Where I go is no skin off your nose.
Without sparing Cristofer a single look, she stood tall, hailed a taxi on the street, and left.
She walked away decisively because she knew about another despicable thing Cristofer had done.
Cristofer gripped the divorce certificate so tight that his veins bulged. Maryanne left without even looking at him.
But why was the way she walked a little off?
He watched the taxi carrying Maryanne disappear, and he stood there, staring for a long time, like he was frozen.
“Awesome! That hick is finally out of the picture. We can be together
for real now!”
Latoya was over the moon and couldn’t wait to tell her parents the

good news.
Cristofer’s eyes flashed a bit coldly, but he kept his voice soft. “I’ll take you home.”
“Okay. Dad is gonna be thrilled when he hears you’re divorced. Let’s go home and tell him about this.”
Cristofer’s eyes were kind of hard to read. He was hiding his feelings pretty well.
He looked at the sweet and cute girl in front of him and smiled gently. “Alright, let’s go.”
“Go!” Latoya was overjoyed. Maryanne was gone for good.
Latoya had finally gotten rid of that bitch. Her mom’s plan had worked perfectly to split Cristofer and Maryanne up.
Cristofer stopped the car at the Nielsen family’s gate. He got a call from the CEO of the Horizon Group and told Latoya to get out first.
Latoya did as she was told and got out of the car, waiting there.
“Hello?” Cristofer answered, his voice low and his face cold.
The voice on the other end was all sarcastic. “Mr. Jimenez, your sales director is really something. She had the nerve to hold a knife to my face and force me to sign a contract. I shot her, and she dug the bullet out right in front of me. I’ve never been impressed by any woman in my life, but I gotta say, I’m impressed by Maryanne. Is she still alive?”
Cristofer’s eyes got cold and narrow. “What?!”
