Luke was Parker’s roommate and best friend.
I knew him, but not because of Parker.
It was because a few days after I came to the school, there was a heavy downpour, and Luke and I took shelter in the teaching building
together.
Apart from the pitter–patter of rain, no one spoke.
But as the rain slowly stopped, he suddenly spoke:
“Hey… so you’re Parker’s childhood sweetheart?”

After I transferred, I was assigned to the same class as Luke.
Parker was in the next class, and his current girlfriend was my desk mate.
To avoid a repeat of the school beauty incident, I changed seats and became Luke’s desk mate.
I felt inexplicably awkward.
But Luke didn’t.
He hurriedly tidied up his books and actively helped me move my desk, smiling a bit nervously:
“I’ve never had a desk mate before, you don’t mind, do you?”
Luke’s smile revealed two cute canine teeth.
But I didn’t accept his enthusiastic goodwill, just lowered my eyes and nodded.
