Aurora let out a soft “mm” and asked, “What is this?““Hangover tea,” Lucas said, settling beside her and gently guiding her to lean against his broad shoulder.
“You drank quite a bit last night. I figured your head would be killing you this morning, so I made this for you. Drink some–it’ll help.”
She looked down at the warm orange–yellow liquid in the cup, a quiet warmth blooming in her chest.
Her eyes lingered on the sharp lines of his profile and the elegant curve of his nose, and her heart skipped a beat before she could stop it.
As a potential husband, Lucas was everything a woman could ask for.
Compared to Joseph, he was on another level entirely.
Lucas tilted his head, puzzled. “What are you staring at? You need to drink it while it’s still warm, or it won’t work.”
Snapping out of it, Aurora gave a dazed nod and parted her lips slightly, letting him feed her the first spoonful.
The moment it touched her tongue, her eyes widened in surprise.
She’d expected it to taste bitter based on the color, but instead, it was tangerine flavored, her favorite.
Lucas grinned. “I know you like tangerines. I looked up a recipe online just for this.”
Aurora’s ears turned crimson, her voice a little flustered. “I… I’ll do it myself.”
Her face was flushed a deep red, the color spreading from her cheeks all the way down her neck.
Lucas couldn’t help himself.
He reached out and brushed a fingertip against her ear.
Aurora quickly slapped her hands over her ears, glaring at him. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing. Your ears just looked really red.”
Without another word, she snatched the cup from his hands. “I’ll drink it myself.”
She downed the tea in one go, avoiding his gaze the entire time.
Lucas stayed beside her, not saying a word, simply watching her with a smile tugging at his lips.
After finishing the hangover tea, Aurora felt much better.
Her strength had returned, and she was ready to get up and head to work.

“You’re not taking the day off?” Lucas looked at her with concern, still unsure she was fully recovered.
Aurora shook her head. “No need. I remember everything from last night. I’ve got personal matters to deal with at the office and
family ones too. I can’t afford to waste any more time here.”
Lucas knew there was no stopping her, so he didn’t try.
“Just don’t push yourself. If anything happens, call me.”
Aurora gave him an “OK” gesture with her hand, then left without another word.
She got in her car and drove straight to the company.
Lucas looked down at the now–empty cu[ and shook his head with a helpless smile.
His Rora was perfect in every way, except she was far too stubborn.
She refused to rely on him.
But he understood why,
Aurora wasn’t some caged bird meant to be kept behind walls.
She was made to explore the vast world, not be confined to a quiet corner.
A life like that meant nothing to someone like her.
After tidying up the kitchen, Lucas grabbed his keys and headed to Vanguard Group.
Meanwhile, Aurora arrived at Walton Corporation with a clear goal to find Hank.
She needed answers–what exactly had that dinner been about?
If he claimed Tessa was behind it, he’d better have proof.
And with the signed contracts from those two executives, she already had part of it.
She headed straight to Hank’s office. But the moment she pushed the door open, she froze.
Not only was he gone, the entire office had been cleared out.
Just then, Lucy passed by.
Aurora turned and asked, “Have you seen Mr. Smith?”
Lucy shook her head. “Not sure what happened, but the moment he came in this morning, he went straight to HR. Looked like he
was resigning.”
“Resigning?”
Aurora’s expression darkened, her whole presence shifting.
