Chapter 9 The Freedom He Gave Me Photographers at the scene snapped pictures urgently, while guests chattered excitedly, creating a chaotic atmosphere. “I’ve got the first exclusive!” One reporter dashed out of Daglesh’s residence, with others hurriedly following in pairs and small groups. “Don’t let them leave!” Eric’s face flushed with anger as he commanded. Under no circumstances should today’s incident become public, or the Daglesh family’s stock would undoubtedly nosedive. “Curse that insane woman!” I muttered quietly. The gate of the Daglesh’s residence shut behind us, enclosing both Samuel and me. In the midst of the commotion, Karen fixed her gaze on me. “Bitch! You will pay for this!” She grabbed a fruit knife from the dining table and charged at me with it. I shielded my face and weaved through the area, worried the butler might catch me and pull me back. It wasn’t until Karen suddenly appeared before me, brandishing a knife, that I snapped back to reality. The gap between us was too small–there was no chance to dodge! At the crucial moment, a hand gripped my shoulder. The scene before me became a blur as I was pulled back. Samuel positioned himself in front of me, using both hands to shield me.
